They both look good to me. Not sure if there's a difference between "Dry Malt Extract - Golden Light" or "Light Dry Malt Extract".

If it was me I would personally go for this one, the Light Dry Malt

1. I only have a 500ml bottle so I'll have to do 400ml water so say about 7gms ME and 7gms Agar?
2. You said you really like the NY in the recipe, but is it really necessary and how would I notice the difference?

Doing 400ml in a 500ml container be super careful.  I would recommend doing 250ml.  When agar boils it will bubble triple in size quickly.

I do 400ml in the 500ml media bottle and 200 with the 250 ml bottles, not problem at all but yes, sometime i loose some in the PC, but not enough to be a problem.

Not even once





Must depend on the TEK used.  I used bod's microwave tek and it foamed up aggressively when it started to boil.

Oh you gotta watch that microwaved agar. Once it starts it goes quick. That last minute you have to not take your eyes off.
