How do I sterilize used syringes in a pressure cooker?

Wrap them bad boys in foil and PC them. 15 psi I think 90 minutes but there’s almost certainly a writeup here somewhere.

I searched, but couldn't find anything.  Do I need to fill them with water or air or anything?  Seems too easy

20mins at 15psi is all you need for sterilizing tools. If you're making a spore syringe though I'd check out the syringe tek in BODs link in my sig too

You have to fill them with water and stand them up.

Thanks for the correction. Wasn’t sure since they’re solid, dry objects vs something with more conductivity like agar broth.

Right side up (needle down) or upside down?  Or does it matter? Thanks!

Just FYI...

We've debated this in the past and boiling is just fine.

Ok that’s way better. Thank you for that link. If I needed an empty syringe, would I just expel the water inside first and be good to go?

I just wrap them in foil empty and PC at 15 psi for any amount of time basically. I have tested just bringing them up to 15 and cutting the heat then and there without issue although as stated before the go to for tools and such is about 20 minutes for sureties sake.

When using syringes for noccing anything they typically just go in the pc with what I am planning to noc in the quantity that I'll need to do the job. It's good to have a hand full of extras around so you can have a few in limbo. They are cheap. I use them to noc grain with LC. A 60cc syringe with a 5 inch steel dispenser does 14 quart jars perfectly, which is the load in an AA930. You can pc a syringe over and over again. They each have a special and unique lifespan...

I got some old cakes that I got about 4 or 5 flushes out of. I heard you can extract the psilocybin from the cakes. About how much is in 1 cake? And if there is a tek 8d greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I come home and the caps are split, now I know that it’s from the lack of humidity, very much so. I mist the walls quite often, the water evaporates a lil fast, like by next time I fan (I fan 5-6 times/day), half the water on the tub walls is gone. The tub is in a closet with no airflow, although the fan in the main room is almost always on. So just just a little curious on any thoughts to how this can be prevented.
I am experimenting with Tidal Wave this grow and don’t know if they absorb a shit ton more water than other cubes, they are pretty fat.

Any ideas are appreciated!

Hey! Fanning is actually detrimental. Stop fanning, keep your tub lidded but with passive air exchange, and you won’t lose so much moisture. Also, I personally spray my substrate and pins directly. It’s never hurt anything for me.

what to do about this? had overlay and pins seemed to have grown under/poked up through, some have corrected themselves and my cake is drying out because of my climate here. 30% rh. Do i pick the ones that are like this? let them keep going until i get veils broken on the others, then dunk? only some have corrected themselves.

How could I passively supply air flow, would cracking my door every 2 hrs suffice?

I’ll try lightly misting the cake one more time and stop fanning

Passive in the sense of you don’t need airflow, exactly, it just needs to not be air TIGHT. For now, since you’re this far along your grow, just keep the lid loose. Should be a hands off experience. Keep it moist and ignore it. You’ll have mature fruits soon.

Nitrile gloves and adhesive tape are a bad combination. It's tough to use any amount without ripping a fingertip off or getting the strip stuck to the glove. Is there any disposable glove material that is "adhesive resistant"?

What can I do about stalled out shoeboxes? I’ve got 4 of them. Spawned to sub over 6 weeks ago. Surface cononized in a couple weeks and one box has had pins for well over a week but they’ve barely grown.  Been misting and it smells good like earthy mushrooms every time I mist. But something seems wrong it’s just going way too slow. Strain is The Lucy. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

Does this look like contamination? This area is not colonizing even though my other jars that I inoculated have fully colonized. It doesn’t smell weird. If contam can I still birth the cake and cut off that portion or is that risky?

That’s a cool growth pattern in your jar there.

I’d give it a few more days. If it doesn’t move, birth it and scrape off uncolonized substrate. It might be a little bacterial, but probably it’s still working on it. They don’t all colonize at the same speed.

I have put plenty of cakes in the tub that were missing little chunks. They do great.
