Hey total n00b here,but if I'm not too late I have a Z strain print I was going to dick around with.

1/1: Happy New Year All! Going out later to pick up supplies. I hope to Christ I can get what I need on New Years Day. If I can't I had purchased a wicked sketchy Lil science kit looking thing with Agar packets and toy petris! I would obviously just be using the packets and properly PCing said mix.

  Also I am trying to figure out how to link my grow log to signature? I copied/pasted the blue heading of my name on page one but it wasn't a link just name. Thanks for having me! I will update with sketchy pics later!:cool:


01/03/22: Sooo finally got my plates all set. Looking in package from T vendor and realized there was an EXTRA spore print I hadn't seen! Red Boy Reverted! Due to my vicious n00bishness I Scrogged one plate of Z strain and have one inoculated. Also did 2 RBR plates from print and 2 plates of Cambodian Gold from MSS! I have gotten more actual work done and going since joining this contest. Sometimes a kick in the ass is the only

01/04/22: Not seeing anything yet except for the condensation in those 2 dishes. I had... a bit of a time with parafilm! In a bittersweet twist of fate I am on quarantine pending a clean vid test so I'm off work and on this! Remember guys first timer so please if you see anything off let me know!






01/06/21:So I believe I'm seeing germination in 3 out of 5 plates. I could totally be wrong. The 3 plates were all from prints.

Damn if I don't procrastinate! I'm feeling good about the Z strain. The Red Boy Revert is good but some contam hit it when I transfered to T2. Don't like the Orange. The RBR plate is in seg in fridge to slow everything. Thinking Josex poke.

Intro

  I almost didn't join because I'm currently fruiting my first grow that I was planning on taking tissue and spore samples from, but I just couldn't pass up this fun learning experience. Plus I still had over half of each syringe left that would go to waste. :shrug:



These are PDA "ketchup" cups I prepared a few months ago. They've been in the back of the fridge in a sealed ziploc so hopefully fine. When I made them my control cup lasted over a month with zero growth before I tossed it for room.



Again less than ideal, these syringes have been in these partially opened bags in a drawer for the same length of time as the agar.

  Used my MSS of B+ and AA+ to noc up four plates each of my PDA agar in SAB. Will update again with pics when the plates have shown growth.

  Finally! Today my plates are showing myc! It’s very small but it’s there!

  Had the day off from work so decided to bust out the pc and finally run some new agar cups. I also went ahead and pced 12 jars of popcorn (yes I know everyone hates it but I don't).

  Of the four agar cups of AA+, 1 had a random satellite near the edge, 1 showed no growth and 2 showed no contam with growth. The satellite cup was tossed a few days ago so is not pictured.

 



  For B+ 1 showed no growth, 3 showed growth without contam.




Accidently tilted this one. Didn't notice the growth until today :nonono:

  For transfers I took four samples from AA+ and B+ respectively. Both cups used were the second images. On a whim the cups in the first images were used to inoculate a jar each.

  Both jars have been shaken and are showing multiple points of growth on each side of the jar. I noticed that both jars had myc growing on the underside of the lid. I'm assuming this is due to starch from shaking the jars after pc. Something to keep in mind for the future I suppose.






  I took these pictures this morning and surprisingly the cup with the most condensation ended up being the best looking after the condensation disappeared. I guess it is not as warm as I thought on the space on top of my fridge.






  Looking slightly better than the B+ cups on average. Not as nice as I'd like but this is only T1 and my first attempt at agar work in the home setting. My current plans are to transfer at least another two times. Then use the best cup for LI. I want to use LI in hopes of spawning faster. Instead of waiting for the master jar and then the recipients to colonize, only the LI recipients will need to colonize. This is not set in stone but some members have shown very promising results.
  I will update again once I have taken T2 transfers after T1 grow out a bit more.

This is my final update. Im quitting this site to save myself time and I also just don’t want to be a part of something negative and closed to those who are newcomers or may be ignorant. Or even those that don’t want to do things the “professional” way. I thought this site was about sharing knowledge. It does that but it’s not welcoming to everyone. I wasn’t here long enough to make an impact anyway so. Peace
