Awesome thanks. At the same time I knock up the cakes with the syringe, I'll knock up some plates directly as well. I've literally NEVER had that work before but who knows, maybe I'll win the lottery and this will be the one clean syringe I've ever received. If the plates are bacterial, I'll transfer off the pucks once I see good clean growth on them, otherwise I'll just stick to the plates inoculated from the syringe.

Here we go:

Myc Hunt’s LAGM 2022

Swab put to agar: 31/12/21

Put to oat GW agar, 2 plates the swab was scraped with scalpel and the third dunked and snapped swab.

First use of spanking new No7 scalpel handle!





**** Update 6/1/22

We have germination!









Transferred to another plate (Oat soak water agar). Expecting to see a decent bit of growth in a few days and then it’ll be put to some 0.5% LME LC and hopefully given a good stir on the stir plate for an hour or so a day!

**** update 14/1/22

Selected my best looking plate…


Selected a piece and put it to a 0.2%ish LME LC in my shiny new 500ml media bottle and gave it a little swirl!


Also made up a slant for my collection!


Update 25/1

Prepared some no prep millet jars with unmodded lids and free poured those bad boys!



Update 2/2

After a shake on 30/1 (forgot to update) seems like the jars are recovering well and will be ready for bulk in a few days to a week!


Update 16/2

Spawned 2 boxes of Nats. One to a 27L pasty EZ dial and one to a 12L unmodded shoebox.

They got 2qt spawn each and 4qt CV with a thin top layer. Apologies for the poor effort with the pics. Will get some more when colonised and pinning!


Update 13/3

They are overlayed to fuck and seem to be fighting something. Gunna hold on til I get a pin!


Update 23/3

Well I think I’m gunna have to throw in the towel! My Nat box is just looking like a big mess, funnily enough, it smelt like fresh mushrooms, not musty or sweet or anything like that. Surprising considering how it looked:

Anyways, it’s been fun, even though it eventually turned to shit. I will have another crack at Nats at some point just maybe not for a bit.

That’s the thing, I’m wanting to use the Nats as my entry despite putting spores to agar 3 hours or so in advance. Shitty thing is I’m up at 5am in the morning and working a 12 n a half hour shift (yeah, boohoo, I know) so it’s either now or whenever the fuck I get a chance.

Technically the spores won’t germ before 2022 so I won’t actually be doing any growing before the midnight benchmark :grin:

If that’s a no no then no worries, I’ll catch the next one.

January 1: Spores were put on agar
January 15: First transfers done. Nothing interesting to show for now. Keeping the germination plates a few extra days before cleaning to see if any plate pins form.
January 31: Transfers continue, had a bad agar batch and almost everything contam'd.
February 28: Found some plate pins, will transfer to new plates.


Malabar

January 1 to February 28: Same as AA+
