Found a new patch today with some pretty big boys growing. Pretty sure these are cyans but they could be allenii (as I've found both growing in the vicinity before.) Like these ones found in the same spot 3 days ago:

I bet it would say a bit more than that……
But yeah , ~45 minutes after ingestion it may start the conversation with “what’s up”  ; )

That is a beautiful picture!!

Nice seeing the natural landscapes and variety of active species y'all come across up there. (I'm down in Cali)

Just curious....Are cyans and/or allenii found in "natural" habitats up that way at all? Or are they still mostly only found in urban areas in wood-chipped landscaping?

I often take my ATVs up in the mountain to ride and I always make it a point to search for mushrooms while I’m out there
I’ve never ran a crossed and active in the forest besides amanita

Some people call the dune grass a natural habitat, but it's European dune grass that was planted to mitigate erosion.  It's no more natural than a landscaped park.  People do occasionally find pockets of them in riparian areas or edge habitat, but personally I don't think those would exist without the reservoirs in landscaped habitats.  I'm also just a hobbiest at best and an authority on nothing, so take this with a grain or two of salt.

pay attention to people's landscaping and areas that are wood chipped or brush cut in the last couple years. stay close to water at low elevations. gardens, libraries, nurseries, hospitals, colleges, police stations, parks, old peoples' lawns, vacant overgrown lots, pullouts, trailheads, chipped paths, mowed blackberries, roadsides. look everywhere and keep checking same places. over and over and you should run into them within a few years

cascade pellies. don't smell appealing at all they smell kinda like psatherylla

Damn.  I shouldn’t have napped.  I missed out.  Very cool.  We need more than azzies, and cyan in here.

I wonder if the whole reason Nintendo set up shop in PNW is because we have the biggest Amanita and largest selection of active mushrooms....

Making this post on behalf of my dad since he doesn't have a shroomery account and hasn't learned how to use his smartphone to its full potential, but he found a patch of about 100 beautiful cyans at work and grabbed a few, had to put them in his pocket so they're a lil torn up. This man hasn't picked or done a psilocybe in 25 years, but he spotted them and knew instantly XD

Thanks guys, I thought it was an especially picturesque little cluster as well. They just looked so perfect, almost didn't want to disturb them...almost

They grow big out here... for the last few years the house a couple down from mine has had salad bowl sized amanitas in the yard.... nice looking red ones. Yes, they do look like they belong in a Nintendo game.

Disclaimer - I'm just a hobbyist and cannot absolutely guarantee any ID offered. I'm most familiar with the species found in the Pacific Northwest - those found in other parts of the world may vary considerably, so always do your own research to find out what grows in your area and what lookalikes you need to be aware of. Understand that many mushroom species cannot be 100% reliably identified by photographs alone, even by an expert, so it may not be possible to go beyond suggesting a probable genus.

Found these in the back yard under an old 2x4....close to where someone put a bunch of stem butts and spore water after cyan and Azure hunting. Does anybody know if it is possible for Azures and cyans to cross breed if grown in the same wood chip bed? I noticed these Azures have stems like cyans and slight waviness to them. they were kinda small like cyans too.  Could just be the environment. Eh, probably just azurescens.
