Making this post on behalf of my dad since he doesn't have a shroomery account and hasn't learned how to use his smartphone to its full potential, but he found a patch of about 100 beautiful cyans at work and grabbed a few, had to put them in his pocket so they're a lil torn up. This man hasn't picked or done a psilocybe in 25 years, but he spotted them and knew instantly XD

I’ve stayed down here in lowlands up until yesterday, went up in forest scouting chanterelles and found my 1st few of these to bring home to print
I’ll have to go explore s’more !

Those caps sure get sticky!!!

The first 3 photos to the top left look like Pellis but the other photos
Look like a Hypholoma species unfortunately. Do you have any other photos of them in their habitat, Hypholoma will grow directly next to Psilocybe Pelliculosa, along with alot of other species. Where did you find these? On a trail, logging road, debris pile, or clearcut?

Yeah , when I posted that the pics looked off …. Idk why they airdropped to my iPad - yes , those were a hypholoma …..ooops
This is the one of the pellies
I’d moved the caps on the damp paper a little, but served the purpose

Do these “domesticate” well ? No need to go sterile/agar route right ? Just stem butts to paper towels/cardboard and on to chips ? Or will they even fruit at lower elevations?

Now that I'm looking at the stems and gills a bit more and I'm thinking those are more likely a Deconica species. Hard to tell with the photos, but looking at the gills they are more flat with the bottom of the cap margin, where Pellis gills will have more of an angle going into to the cap. The stems also seem to be too dark as well, more dark brown in colour. Where Pellis stems are white-yellowish near the cap turning darker near the base into a reddish-brown, with distinct white fibrils going up the stem from the base. They both will be hygrophanous cap and have a separable gelatinous pellicle, but Pellis have a very thick skin. And only Pellis will bruise blue, if you pick enough you will notice bruising on the base but most of the time I find blue pins on the base of stem. I'm not an expert I'm just some guy who loves mushrooms, so I would start a separate thread and go back to the same area and get some new pics. Some good new pics of it in it's habitat before it's picked and some of it after, that way we can help identify it better for you.

Spent the day looking for pellies.

All I could find were some true azzies.
A few allenii not pictured, and a loan cyan.

What do you guys think about the best technique for the last 2 day flush?  I’m looking for the highest alkaloid content per dried gram.  Should we do a Ph adjusted water flush?  Maybe a boiled wood chip broth?  Maybe plain ol rain water 45-60 degree fir the last 7 days.  Seems to be at 80-95% VWC

Posting this for laughs after cleaning some photos off my phone. This was my first ever: spores to agar to pasteurized chips in a jar. Took about a year.

This is the fourth new patch I’ve found this year. Some of the biggest caps I’ve ever seen.

Cheers!

Psilocybe Pelliculosa

I took my brother mushroom hunting for the first time ever, ever since I've started mushroom hunting actives only a few years ago. He's not a mushroom person at all, he only knows magic mushrooms as Ps. Cubensis & Ps. Semilanceata aka Liberty caps and a few edibles like Chanterelles & Morels. He's a very big hunter and has been hunting since he was kid, he insisted on going to this area where he goes and looks for deer and said there would be some good spots to look for mushrooms. It was another woodlot about 30mins down the highway where I normally go, and literally 5 mins down the logging road I found few on the side of the road but I didn't take any pictures of that patch unfortunately. As I a wanted to show him how to identify these and show him all the features, got him to split the cap and see the separable gelatinous pellicle and see that main feature first hand. I pulled the rest up to show him the blue bruisng pins at the base the stem to see that it wont be on every one you pick but the will have blue bruising.

here's a few I found

Habitat: Logging Road,Clearcut, and Trails (More photos he took)

After we this he wanted to take photos of the dog with the camera, and he kinda went crazy haha. Here's a patch he found while we were walking on a trail looking for this huge tree he found that he wanted to take me to, and as we were walking down the trail and he was asking me if we could find them around here. He looked down and found some while we were talking about them, it felt really weird lol. Almost like they knew we were talking about them haha.

Not the best picture he took

Pelliculosa.  The cap is so glossy that you can see the reflection of my orange hat.
