I've been dreaming of a beaner/cap/hat type of grow for a long time. Maybe I'll make a preliminary build by attempting
to fruit out of a nutritious sock , hats won't be a problem if I can do that.


How would you prep a sock?

Idea:

- soak in nutritious liquid
- put in a jar
- PC, but how long?
- spawn to.. coir? A sock covered in coir?

If I wanted to fruit out of a sock and have it recognized as a sock I would likely fill a dry sock with a 1:2 mix of grain spawn and coir verm. Then mist until the whole sock is moist and place/fruit in an appropriate chamber like a GH or SGFC. I’d use my pan chamber.

I feel that the socks should be cotton and new, don’t use old threadbare socks for this. That should allow the sock to become lightly colonized and act as a bit of a casing layer.

That's actually smarter to fill it, that way it acts as a container/moisture retainer, and you still get the sock "look" in the chamber.

Keep an eye of for this in the future, team shroomery.

Guess I'll have to do... Laundry.

Only problem with this is that it's sorta less novel if the sock itself won't colonize, but I  guess it will.

Lol you could fill it up with grain and coir then pc it, stick it in a bag and hit it with lc.



A few people have done stuffed animals i don’t remember the process though.

I gave one of those to my brother in law for Christmas because he asked for a trashcan smaller than .93 cubic gallons (he's an engineer so yes, he actually calculated the size that would fit in his office desk...).

Anyway, to keep the thread on track I've been struggling with my novelty grow. Out of 3 attempts I've lost it to trich twice and it just never did anything the 3rd time. I don't want to give up on it so I'm just going to put it on the backburner for a while. But it does have me wondering if I'm just trying to fruit out of too small of an object...you'll just have to wait and see!

I took it out and put it a sgfc cause the trash can didn’t have any holes in it. I just waited for it to fruit and when I was ready to harvest I just cut the sides first then dropped it in for the pic. Then took it out and harvested the top.

Just had a great idea: Jack O' Lantern bucket!
