It's already harvested hahah but I was really wondering a way to embalm it.

I’m not sure. Wouldn’t want it hot. Look it up I’ve never done it just thought it would be cool to break the glass and have a big solid display for ever

They sell art acrylic stuff. It’s just two syrups you mix together and then pour into a mold or whatever.

I was playing around with it a couple months ago. Made some shroom and weed ashtrays :lol:

Yeah that makes sense. I actually don’t use them as ashtrays cuz I don’t smoke joints or cigarettes. Usually I just break a nug up into snappers in it.


Getting the bubbles out of the resin is tough. In the picture you can see a shadow in the middle leaf where there was a big one. Apparently it’s close enough to let air through because the whole leaf is yellow now.

I'm sure you already know this but heating up the bubbles with a torch after you pour the epoxy releases them.  Only problem is that you have to babysit the project for a few hours as new bubbles form.

How did your mushroom ashtrays turn out?  Did you use fresh or dehydrated?  I still have a few gallons of epoxy from a previous project that I'll use for a novelty grow if anyone has a great idea.

my last grow had some very odd things happening and the result was small fluffy blobs of mycelium on the caps of many of the fruits. some of those blobs decided they were going to be cap cells and started to morph into a mutant, extra part of the cap, causing some very odd looking caps.
this got me thinking about purposefully placing blobs of mycelium on the caps of fruits to see what would happen. has anybody done something like this before?
my guess is the mycelium has the potential to be any type of cell it needs to be, like stem cells. is this correct? if so it would be almost as much fun making mutants as it is to eat the fruits!

This is my first time attempting this.  When I was starting the process I made more PF than I had jars for so I started filling whatever I had on hand.  I work in a lab and had a bunch of 25mm test tubes so I packed a bunch autoclaved them with the rest.  Then I inoculated them thinking I would just watch the mycelium grow.

People here suggested that I might be able to fruit right out of the tube, so once they were fully colonized I took the top off, put them in my water tub and sprayed them down daily with the cakes.
Eventually this happened.

Then

This was my first harvest.

I birthed the rest of it and laid it on a rack in the water tub.  I wonder it I'll get any more from it.

That’s awesome.


I tried doing something similar last year to see what happens if you restrict the fruiting area hoping it would just grow one giant shroom at a time.


I used the tube from a paper towel roll but there was a hole in the liner and the myc ended up colonizing the cardboard.
