Wonder if you could transfer that hellscape, add a good shroom clone slice, then use multiple transfers / then selection to grow mold-resistant bacteria-resistant shrooms?

Fucking around with anthocyanin in my mea. As the mycelium moves it eats the blue and turns it pink. Pretty sure this is due to enzyme production as the discoloration happens out in front of the leading edge (where no hyphae are present) to varrying degrees depending on the culture. Spores germinating seem to eat up the blue a lot more.

I have yet to notice any bacteria in my blue plates. Soon I'll do a test and move some from another plate onto a blue one to see if it dies or spreads.

Thought I'd share my latest noob fuck up with agar for your entertainment.

After months of trying to get a couple of solid looking plates, I finally took the 'plunge' to go to agar 2 grain in a SAB using the tic tac toe method.

Im using PP5 plastic containers. I put the lines pattern on the agar and sort of put a line all the way around the outer edge, then turned the pot upside down directly over the quart receiving jar and tried to give it a squeeze/shake/tap but I ended up having to use my scalpel again to scrape it into the jar because it was stuck to the pot.

Then... when I shook the jars, the little pieces instantly stuck to the upper sides of the glass and for the life of me I cant get them off the jar walls and into the grain, Ive shaken and bashed a lot! And the idea of going back in the SAB to scrape the walls sounds like a terrible idea.

Yeah, I've had to lay my jars in weird ways to get the grain on the agar that's stuck to the sides. Usually after a few days I'll go back shake and it'll come right off. Only had 1 stay stuck and it was half a 90mm petri. Before I drop a wedge I'll shake ask my grain to one side and let the wedge fall on the empty side and then just gotta shake since grain on top and done.
I've noticed several people don't do this, after you shake your jars. Pack it like a pack of cigarettes. You want all of your grain as close to each other as possible. It's easier for myc to spread if all the grains are touching. I feel like I see jars with allot of gaps.

I feel like such a moron right now. I transferred four plates a few days ago, and one of the first plates I transferred was a PESA isolate that had a patch of mold. Today, three of the four transfers have identical small mold spots on them. I'm guessing it's because I opened up that moldy PESA plate and some spores started floating around inside my SAB, which then affected the next transfers I made.

I guess the best solution is to handle any plates with mold in a separate SAB session, or do them last?

I've finally got rid of it after a couple of transfers. I've done them in same SAB sessions but each time gone from cleanest to dirtiest.

I think it's probably penicillium. White colony with a green/blue center.
