Lookin' like a crop circle!

I've always been amazed by 'Fairy Ring' infections in peoples lawns because they grow in perfect circles like that

I got that same one constantly over summer.

It looks pretty cool, at first I thought the rings were from temperature fluctuations like with myc but I think it just grows like that.

Pyrex 500mL glass bottles going for $30 bucks a pop. Wow.

Anyone know of a cheaper place to find them or is this normal price nowadays?

usalab.com usually has them for about $15. I got 2 from them that cracked after one PC cycle but they replaced them (eventually) for free. For the price they're alright but I'll stick to corning in the future

There used to be and prob still is a place selling 3 for 15 bucks, a few people said they had no problem but 2 of my 3 weren’t sealed right and were useless for anything sterile and one broke in the pc.

I think the real robbery is that the 250ml bottles cost as much as a 500  as with most things though you get what you pay for. As soon as all my cheap 500s break I'll replace them all with corning and not think twice about it.

Edit: the 250s are absolutely perfect for LC!

The Pyrex bottles have always been expensive. The cheap 3pk 500mL's are gone, they were Cadamada brand. They do have 1L bottles for $30 right now, which is pretty dope!

2pk 500mL $24 or 2pk 250mL $16

2pk Pyrex 250mL $33

Edit: hell the cheap bottles in the first link are 2x 1L for $26!

Whoa, that's a lot! I always end up pouring around 10ml per jar on average and it seems to colonize just fine.

I had about 300ml of questionable LC left over the other day so I dumped it into a trash barrel full of horse manure lol. I'll spread it in my garden this season and see if anything comes of it

Who all uses this nursery parafilm tape for wrapping plates? Have you found that it blocks too much fae? I was using saran wrap and switched to this and it is great for convenience and ease. However, I keep finding that my plates are much fuzzier (puffier?) than before. I am wondering if the myc is reaching for more air. They still perform great, but the light vertical reaching fuzz seems to be a new constant across species and varieties. I am still wrapping twice around the plate and that may be the issue.

This is the one I am using.

I've never used anything but. Your talking grafting tape for plants and such?

Apparently its not amazing for long term storage, I dunno, I've got 6month old, refrigerated, plates that are happy. Any longer and you should probably use slants anyway

Yup. The plant grafting stuff. I am not deliberately using it for long term storage, but I do like to let a lot of my plates grow out now before tossing. But the fuzz shows up very early on both germ and transfer plates.

Yup. I got the idea from D3. I do get good rizo and general results. I was just wondering if I am the only one noticing the extra fuzz. It is really hard to show in pictures, though. It had me thinking ride along mold meshed in, but seems to be on every thing from all kinds of sources and it doesn't show up in my holy grails using the same sources in the same SAB sessions.

No sweat, though. I will try stretching more, less, and a single wrap to see if I find any differences. It is just so damn easy to use, I don't want to give up on it. Maybe it has nothing to do with the tape at all. I was just troubleshooting and curious if anyone else had noticed it.

Thanks gents.

I've been transferring a lot of my genetics over to charcoal plates and part of that process is transferring the original swab tips I still had on agar to new dishes. It's been fun watching how the mycelium from different varieties adjust to the new nutes. These TAT swab tips colonized the whole plate then went rhizo from the edge back towards the center.

T7 TOC clone looking like it could get to a monoculture in a few more transfers potentially. Got some AA+ and ATL7 plates (not pictured) showing germination within like 3 days which is nice. Otherwise good to be busy.
