Today we face a resurgence of the same backwards regressing political and economic ideations that had brought the world to the brink of destruction they fought 100 years ago. Why are people pushing for things like nationalism communism fascism anarchy general anti globalism sentiment any number of dumb shit.

I think you're wrong to include anarchism on that list for several reasons:

1) 'anti-globalism' is a loosely defined term. To anarchists protesting in Hamburg, it means resisting economic globalism - both the anti-democratic financial organizations, like the G20, making decisions that have global ramifications; and the neoliberal agenda they push that prevents borders from limiting the movement of capital, not people (free trade vs migrant detention).

To fascists, globalism is just a pejorative euphemism for recycled anti-Semitic conspiracies, where the (((globalists))) are a secret cabal of ruling elites seeking to eliminate national identity/Western culture/the white man in order to advance a global Zionist/Marxist/Liberal government.

These are not the same position, and they shouldn't be conflated.

This is spot on IMHO and conflating the two is precisely what people will continue to do.

Globalism only works if human beings are built by morals and ethics that are are agreeded upon WORLDWIDE. Til then it is a fever dream of satanic elite.

Everyone would love to live in a world with everyone else on the planet without fear of evil but we don't so til then the world needs borders and laws and countries. See you in a couple 100 years. The problem isn't with globalism necessarily, the problem is the decisions they are making to get to that goal which involves mass depopulation. The American dream is the original Globalism because it isn't forced it is a model of peace and unity if only the world replicated on their own of course and isn't forced on them. Problem with globalism is it is being forced by laws, financial tightening and lies with climate change among other things.

A problem with globalism: Shipping cheaply produced products in from a far away country like clothes from Bangladesh produces much more CO2 than to produce locally. Also the people there are practically slaves, underpaid, and there is child labor, factories collapse etc and they use chemical dyes that are harmful and dump their waste in the rivers. All this I blame on them having so little money that they really cant afford to care or do it any differently. But also globalism means handing over control over things as such over to them.
And remember most of the population growth and CO2 produced comes precisely from poor countries in Asia and Africa. The western countries are levelling off.
I'd like for my kids to have a place to live, I am mostly worried over CO2.
We could, at least theoretically, affor to buy electric, cars, install power lines, expand public transport. For them gas is the only thing the can afford.

Anyway my take on wha nationalism, in the social not the economic sense, which is to say rejecting people from other countries (immigrating for example) is due to one simple reason. If you look at wages compared to living cost and adjusted for inflation compared to 60 years ago, they have halved. People nowadays can rarely afford owning a house anymore. Economic stress seems to me to be a storng predictor for unhappiness with the state you live in. So people dont know why it is so and start to make theories and find things to blame. And racism is just a very old habit of thought, and its always easier to blame "the other".
Instead I think the problem is the billionaires, since we as countries arent poor, the money is just in the wrong hands.

Billionaires have the most to lose in a truly global environment.

Of course they will do everything in their power to stop the world from unifying.

That's an oversimplified understanding.

Economically they'd benefit from connectivity on all levels because more revenue streams.

The difference is CONTROLLING those things, which they are conveniently masterful at doing. Anything that gains traction is conveniently co-opted and restructured. Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Robinhood, etc. I'd argue we are where we are, right now, because of that exact behavior.

They don't give a fuck what the market does, just that they can control those ends, in the end.

It doesn't matter who writes the laws if you control the money.

Globalism is mostly an economic policy and it involves mixing developed economies with emerging economies. The net result is massive wealth inequality as it exploits cheap labor around the world that benefits the very few at the top.  Economic nationalism is obviously the natural response to economic globalism.

I'll grant that it's an oversimplified argument. For the reasons you pointed out, more or less. It's an argument from praxis, not from theory. In the current state of affairs, globalism is reserved for the people rich enough to make laws that target everyone except for them. Therefore, true globalism is a direct threat to those people.

That's not to say that true globalism wouldn't open a whole new can of worms and loopholes, it's just that it will fix a majority of current loopholes and worm cans.

The issue I think some people have with globalism is that people have different values and do not wish to be governed by people who have values radically different  than their own.  Even within the United States Alabama and Oregon are pretty much different countries.  That's why local governance is so important and a balance of power.    Ambition needs to counteract ambition.    Globalism I think would set up a means for great Tyranny especially at this point and time in humanity.  I don't think we are ready for a one world government and I know that's not what we are talking about exactly but our nature is just so messed up.  Alot of darkness in this world

The bolded part clears things right up and I couldn't agree more with that position on it.
