I am a grower of old and have decided to continue the adventure. My experience is limited to grow kits and jars. I have read what I could find about agar. Can you provide an article or information related to the purpose, process and and benefits of using agar?

Sounds good, thanks Josex and Sockadin! Sorry for cross posting this, I just thought this post was more relevant to the agar thread. I know my grains were prepped poorly and that's my fault. Lesson learned (better late than never). Next time I prep grains I'll know more of what they should look and feel like. I wasn't blaming my plates, just wondering where to take transfers from but that's been answered. Thanks again for taking the time to help a noob. Cheers!

As Sock already pointed out, I don't see anything wrong with that plate myself, they are just a bit overgrown is all. :thumbup:

I have T2 on grain and will put T3 to grain and compare fruits from both and clone the best examples

Yep.

I'd do these 4 sections

Anything too close to the edge and I find my hand hovering over the plate too much.

Thanks for the help, everyone! I'm going to head into the SAB shortly to make some transfers and put some more spores to agar.

This is the same plate as the one above in its' infancy and there was a bit of condensation on the lid. I've started pouring when my agar is about 120F and it starts clumping on about the last 2 plates of a stack. Once I'm done pouring I stack my plates as high as I can and leave in the in the SAB for a day or two until I'm able to use them. Pouring at the lowest possible temps, stacking high and letting them cool off/acclimate gradually has helped me get much clearer plates.

Plus, I put that plate on a shelf and forgot about it for a month lol. I think eventually the agar and mycelium kinda reabsorb the condensation :shrug:

I'm by no means an expert tho and not the person I'd be asking for agar advice lol. Cheers, mate

Sandwich tek helped me get away from this mold(I think)

Ill post an update when the new plates grow out some
also took some myc to grain from that portion of nice growth
