Def not liking it, I had a blue oyster 💯 stop cold, never left the xfer puck. The red plate from the beginning of the experiment is still about dime size while the others have been transferred a few times since. My hypothesis is the purple is significantly less red #3 and while there’s a slight difference in growth pattern it isn’t completely detrimental. I’m out shopping but will post a few pics when I get home

Cheers. . . For clearing that up . . .

Does anybody pour more than one stack of dishes at a time? I was considering getting 1-2 more 500ml media bottles or maybe the 2000ml Pyrex... not sure if it’s worth the hassle. I imagine you’d have to start the pour at a higher temp to made it through 40-60 dishes before it solidifies.

I reckon you’ll find the 2L really hard to use. . .

I have a 1L which is almost too heavy, and 2 500ml’s. . . The 500ml’s are heaps easier to use, and if using a water bath, a shallower bath can be used. . .

Also nice if you have different recipes. . .

I have 8 of the 500ml media bottles... usually do 5 or 6 at a time with 400ml in each... get anywhere from 100 to 130 plates depending on how thick/thin i pour... I burn thru those in a week to 10 days usually.

Here's my agar in little mason jars, only issue I've had is they take up a lot of room.
I like the reusability, I've never worked with petri dishes though.
I'm not sure I even need SFD's on them, I just do it anyways so when I pressure cook them it doesn't make vacuum, sucking up SAB air when I open it.

Those look great. I've been buying extra tall 100mm petris (25mm tall) and filling them most of the way up, and making super thick LI. Like Jell thick. I might try a few mason jar versions!

How's your agar recipe?
With my usual recipe (dog food agar, DFA) that'd be definitely mold.
Edit: now looking it further it seems to be organized. Try switching recipes! There's good hope yet

7g lme 7g agar, its off of the leading edge of the previous plate that looked very simular, with that translucent halo around it. It does look to be relatively organized growth, but its so translucent I just don't like it. Ill see about getting it to a pint jar see how it does.

Ok what's the point of so damn thick agar?? I mean I pour mine maybe 1-2 mm thick as thin as I can 400ml worth of agar can do 25 plates. Being so thick I don't see why.. if your making LI then all your doing is blending it up and knocking up the bags/jars with the mycelium that's already on the agar. Or do u blend it then let it sit for a week? If that's the case why not just drop a pasty plate in some LC and stir it for a day.....

Has it ever ran across anyone's mind to reuse their agar. As in scoop out the agar/mycelium from the dish after transfer, rehydrate if necessary, and sterilize again. Just an idea I have been pondering high as shit laying in bed trying to go to sleep.

hey man for what it's worth i've had identical plates of maz and colorado. in both cases ? they were bacterial to the point i never got clean grain and just gave up on those ones opting for my other playes with better growth. i also am curious... do you happen to have big temp flux, perhaps toward the colder end of things? and did those clones come from previous agar pins?

I take one thick plate, wait til the agar colonizes throughout, (I use food coloring to show it has done so) and blend it to make 100cc's of gel. I knock 4 big bags with one huge 100cc syringe. 4 days to 100%.

I get to see 2D confirmation of clean growth, yet have 3D amounts of mycelia.

(people forget that the agar gets colonized throughout)

My agar is so thick because the 500ml I made was a bit to much, but I didn't want to dump the rest.

I always end up making to much and pouring thick ass plates. :foreheadslap:

I am basically doing the same thing as Pasty-plates, just with jars instead.

Guys, this is my T2 AA+ plates, im planning to go for T3 today later as its possible to see faster grow areas, one of the plates has mold growing...

One question regarding SAB, the correct is to mist the SAB first then put everything inside right? Just took a look and another unused poured plate had mold, so im 70 - 80% sterile...

OBS: SAB used to be an fruiting chamber, i closed those with plastic tape =]

Spray after loading it up, otherwise it does no good because filling it creates a current
