Yeah, turn your fan off and wrap your plates.

:archiebunker:

I honestly feel slightly attacked on that one lol Little did I know I had to do almost 70 transfers because of my stupid fan idea....

I have a question:

In my country there is no way to get antibiotics for agar without special permission and ordering from another country can mean legal trouble if customs check it (it would be the same as getting prescription pharmaceuticals into the country).

However, I can get pre-poured agar plates with antibiotics easily, even on amazon and ebay and many other shops. It would be Taplin Dermatophyte Agar

The recioe is as follows:

Soy Peptone 10g
Glucose 10g
Agar 20g
Phenol Red
Cycloheximid
Gentamicin
Tetracyclinhydrochlorid

Would myc grow reasonably well on this ? The peptone seems a little high.

These are my two best T1s from mss. The one has a big yellow bacteria spot. Other than that how do they look? First time doing agar. Was wondering if I should just take some transfers from the better one or if I should try to clean up both?

Both of them look pretty healthy.
I'd transfer at 11 o'clock, 3 and 7 from the first pic. And from 5 to 7 of the second pic. Those should clear a lot up the plates

Generally if I have two plates with the same variety and one has obvious contamination while the other doesn't,  I toss the one that's contaminated and work from the clean one. Usually they're germ plates.

I need a hand here guys.
Wtf is going on there in these 4 plates?

The back of these all look kinda disorganized to my eye. What's your take on them?

Plate 1:
Plate 2:
Plate 3:
Plate 4:

And today I found out this new pattern of growth, towards the ceiling:

Anyone knows if that's a bacteria or mold going there undercover?

Other than the first pic looking like it has a satellite colony @ 1 o'clock, they look fine.

Edit* I would probably make another transfer away from plate 4 though, it's probably fine but I like things a tad more uniform.

Np slothboy!

Thanks p9hu7. I also like them more uniform. It's my first time having a mycelium giving me that kind of swirls:mad2:

Hi, I'm new here.

I went streaking about a week ago with friends in (10g LME + 2.5g Dextrose) per 500ml. I transferred to 5g LME to 500ml.

I made (10g LME + 5g dextrose + 1g peptone) and (10g potato flake + 5g dextrose +1g peptone) plates for the cope/pans and the slow to wake up b+ and p. envy. Some plates have 1 colony, some of the B+ have bacterial blooms. Some single colonies of the bisporus and cambos have shown up today. There is still time.

Atl7
- Yes, that is some mold. It didn't look too aerial, so I clam-shelled the plate and took a few sections.

Tampan
- I like the way this streak came out.

Ecuador
- Nothing to0 different on these to pick from.

Ecuador Cuts

Malabar
- There's actually some different growth to pull from.

Malabar Cuts

I'll be back with some updates on my slower friends and how my sections fill in.

Congrats on your new children. Many folks here attempt to grab a very small section to transfer, in an attempt to isolate just the mycelia you like, nothing else.... perhaps a piece of rice sized chuck.

question... Since I try to read more and type less, I've been condemned to existing outside the walls of the marketplace. Alas, I have to say another 20something comments that imply I have no idea how the search engine works.... but since I like to space them out, and I've been buying pre-pour plates from a non shroomery source, I'd be way happier spending money buying plates from someone here. I heard Bodh does but I can't imagine he's not too busy for my bullshit random message asking to spend a few bucks, so anyone else?

Iv got some funky growth on a set of transfers, I am a professional at cultivation of mold and its getting really old. The peu and rust spore both have almost hair like filaments coming from the center, the agar recipe is 9g agar, 7g lme, 500ml h20, typically I use 7g agar but the packet had a little left so I used it. The top plate is where the peu came from and it also had an almost translucent ring around the culture. Im really hoping that its just mycelium expanding on top of the agar but my fear is I cultured mold from the parent plate.

The top one looks good to me.

I recently did something weird with my agar and ended up with plates that grew really slow and just like your other pics. Super annoying. I think it’s from ultra high nutes.

I grained a few and they took a little longer than normal to jump off but other than that were fine.

That peu on top went to the plate right below it and looks different. I took 3 transfers from the leading edge on that peu plate and they all look like that peu t5. I have just cultivated ever so much mold that I just cant seem to see good mycelium anymore, or else I need to practice sterile procedure. I have a hood and also watched many videos and implemented procedures from the more experienced folks out there with no success, literally none, as in 54 jars over the past 3 months that have resulted in one sb making it to the first flush. Just discouraging.

As far as I know that could be really high nutes as you say, but in my experience (I've always used around 2% nutes) when I see that I assume it's mold. Nothing good came ever from these types of plates for me.
