I’m also wondering about that.

I take lc out while hot, let it cool then tighten. Leaving the foil on the whole time. I never leave things to cool in the pc.

No vacuum:awedance:

I did this, there was still a whooosh. Here's hoping it was positive pressure escaping. We shall see, and i will endeavor to do it this way.

I've been all paranoid lately, so I've been moving the PC in front of
the hood right as it reaches 0 psi on the gauge but still has
pressure. I'll leave it there for an hour or so and then open it
up and make sure all the lids are tight.

mushboy, is this something a crazy person does?

A citrus rasp removes them well.

You really only need to whip an LC with a stir bar once or twice a day for less than a minute so I don't know why you would complain about the noise it's not that loud. There's not much difference running it 24/7 and many stir plates will overheat your lc if you do that anyway because the motors can get warm especially when dialed down low because of the rheostat. If you do want to run your LC stirring for 24/7 you better test your stir plate by letting it run for a few days and feel if the base plate is warm where the LC sits. I once ruined a whole bunch of LC after finding out my old 4 position stirrer gets warm when run 24/7.

Seems to be species and/or culture specific as well. Pan cyans respond extremely
well to the 24/7 stirring. I can have an LC ready in 4 days.

Zapotecorum absolutely does not like constant agitation. Same with semperviva and
caerulescens. Some cubes do but others do not

Fast growing vs. slow? I'm not sure.

Once I did PE with 24/7 stirring and a star shaped bar and it grew these little spiked balls of mycelium that looked like naval mines. It was wild and I regret not getting any pics.

My rustywhyte is doing the same
I keep it on a low swirl and crank it once a day or so to really blend
Think im gonna shut off for the weekend and let it fluff up

I have a few questions with regards to water content and LC in general, thanks for the help!

Say I put 50 CCs of LC into a jar of oats, if the oats were properly sterilized, slightly under hydrated and my LC was 100% clean, what’s the downside if the extra LC is absorbed by the oats (even if it takes a shake or two)?

Will it get contaminated if there aren’t any other competing organisms? I’ve been putting ships on my LC bottles and use micropore for GE. Am I overestimating the effectiveness of PC sterilization and multiple layers of micropore and SHIPS?

Last question, when is a shake recommended when using LC (if any)?

Looking to learn all about it
