lol here’s some for sure bacteria I had.

Interestingly it seems like leaving it in the cold for a week let the myc kill it and take over everything.
This plate looks awesome now from the top, from the back you can see the old bacteria river.

Well mine definitely doesn't look like that but its definitely some kind of clearish cloudy contam that the stopped the mycelium dead in its tracks...

Lol yeah that plate was shocking.

I think it has to be bacteria causing the clear/thin looking growth. I had a couple plates like that where they get the Pac-Man mouth.

Would there be any issue with me freezing plates or just the agar (after PC) for storage?

I’m pretty sure agar stays good for a long time, but you could always throw a plate in the freezer for a few hours and see.

Put them in the fridge, not the freezer. The water inside the agar will freeze, but the rest of the material won't freeze, and when it warms back up, it's not quite the same. There is a high chance of condensation forming, and when that falls back onto the agar surface, it'll try to suck it all back up, making it really soupy.

Really? I've been freezing mine for a long time never noticed any problems.
It does seperate and then has to be heated back up to remix but I never got any soupy agar. The difference if any hasn't been noticeable for me.
I definitely wouldn't freeze plates though.

Caps - Seems totally plausible that (depending on the culture) one cud continue in the fashion you do for some time without much of an issue, but the act of narrowing genetics in that way is still very real.

Ya but if it's in sealed media bottle itll keep forever in the fridge too... or probably even in a cupboard as long as u didnt contaminate it..

Hey guys. Just looking for some feedback on these plates.
Dont mind the mold spots :lol:



The PM#1 and AC#2 look pretty good to me but I am un sure about the LGT plates... LGT#3 looks like it might be ok?

Its obvious where to transfer from from the good plates but id transfer to a new plate first sign of growth if they have mold spores now.

The LG plates just need more transfers.  I take it this is from spores or a print?  Sometimes if I cant get a culture clean I try to get a colonised jar from a good section and then clone the first mushrooms grown in a shoebox  OR leave a suspect plate till it pins and transfer that to anew plate.

All LGT's are probably 2-3 transfers away from looking really good.
LGT1 - 4:00-5:00
LGT2 - 7:00-9:00 on the smaller cluster
LGT3 - either 12:00-2:00 or 4:00-5:00.

PM+AC plates are 2-3 transfers away from looking hella dope.
PM1 - that 12:00-1:00 is hot, 11:00-12:00 would be really uniform on the next plate, but literally anywhere from 7:00-2:00 is good
AC1 - give some more time, but 8:00-9:00 or 4:00-5:00 look the most promising
AC2 - anywhere in that 8:00-11:30 area. looks sooo gooooood

LGT2, PM1, and AC2 look like they have some bacteria (hence the thin/void-looking areas). LGT3 looks good to go to grain personally, but i'd give it time.

Move slowly with these and as said have a 2 plate clean up. Transfer and first slightest growth transfer again.  U can alway take 2 plates each culture and just leave one to see what happens.

Are these little circles what it looks like when a single spore or spot of myc grows by itself??


Took me a few tries to get the chunk off the blade but it looks like everyplace that I touched grew.

I’m also looking for input on these plates, I’m definitely making progress.



What’s the deal with the dark areas surrounding the transfer chunk?? It seems to be culture dependent, all my maz and gt have it but not PE or Burma.

Short answer; not necessarily, and probably no. with just how tiny those microscopic spores are, you would be hard pressed to actually select just one, even with a microscope and correct tools. Agar/transfers/spore prints would be essentially impossible to get one spore. Plus i believe you need two spores to start any growth at all, but that's being a little nitpicky.

:laugh2: it happens brah! I had a wedge that rolled over when i was wrapping the plate, and there were two very distinct origins.

From starting agar a month ago to this, you are kicking ass man! The pic of three plates all look good, i wouldn't be afraid to put those on grain. About your last question, I believe it's just thin mycelium, i have a ton of plates that look just like that.

Slow mexicana growth? These ps mexicana plates are now 2 weeks old and seem very slow to grow.

Temperatures here are great for this species, agar is MEA 10:10:500ml

Plates seem clean, just slow!

Am considering transferring to lower nute plates.

Any thoughts?
