Good news for discourse: Tulsi has received the 65,000 contributions necessary to take the debate stage.

Biden is an abstract right now because he hasn't declared.  His poll numbers will drop once he becomes reality.  The PI market already priced that in.

She is impressive. I have no idea how this Democratic primary is going to go, or how I want it to go. I'm for Bernie because I think he's electable (yeah, I know, that's what I thought about Hillary) until I see Tulsi and then I'm entranced. For me it's like a (female) JFK moment, and I'm old enough, barely, to remember that kind of charisma in the Democratic Party.

Since I only have $27 invested, I guess I'm going to sit back and see how this sorts out between the progressives.

You know, I love Bernie, and I will vote for him, but I think I would prefer Tulsi. She has such a calm collected way about her, and she is very intelligent, and I agree with her on the issues. I think she is very electable, and I would love to see her go up against Trump. I think she would wipe the floor with him. She ticks about 20 different boxes for those who care about identity politics, also.

Trump will destroy her with very little issue. It's not even a fair fight.

This guy will regret the day he challenges Trump. Trump will put him and his family through the meat grinder, it's not worth it.

She's my first choice as well.  I gave more to Bernie though since he's still way out front and currently seems to stand a better chance.

We'll see.  If Fox lets Tucker Carlson interview her again, or if MSNBC lets Chris Matthews interview her again, she could really start going up in the rankings.  Something tells me we won't see either of those again, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised...

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

She doesn't stand a chance this time around as the headliner, but that's alright.  She's well positioned to do some work in the debates and slide into a VP spot.  Then when it's her time to shine, everyone will know her name already, etc.

Agreed. I always assumed she’d be a potential VP for Bernie this time around, seeing as how she was one of the few who stood up for him in 2016 (resigned her position at the DNC in protest of them favoring Hillary). When she entered the race I was a little confused because she has no chance, but I’m glad she’s gonna be on the debate stage and getting the anti imperialism message out there.

For a little while I thought Stacy Abrams would be a good pick, even though she’s considerably to Bernie’s right. But seeing as how Bernie is calling out CAP, on whose board she sits, for sabotaging and deriding progressive causes, that’s probably out the window now.

Yeah right, you put that draft dodging witless piece of shit against Tulsi, and he'll get fucking smoked. Have you seen her in interviews? The media has gone after her quite ferociously, and she stays calm and collected the entire time. In fact, she's tripped up a few newscasters, while the were tag teaming her.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=13&v=ZprYbRh3Lv0

She's obviously not a serious candidate in this election, but I don't think she intends to win, I think she wants name recognition for the future. Donald Trump didn't win his first time around. His first campaign didn't go anywhere lol.

Go Tulsi!  What's not to like?

Just think, she could be the youngest woman ever elected to congress, the only congressperson to leave office to go serve in a combat zone, first female president, first hindu president, first Indian president, first Hawaiian president... She will be shattering records lol!

i'm a fan of Tulsi, but could we please, as a country and populace, get over this whole "shattering records" thing?

Why does it matter if someone was the first this or first that?  maybe it's becase i'm a "priveleged white male" that i see all of this as a distraction, but i also do not understand how any of the record-shattering labels has any effect on someone's ability to govern.  To me, it seems more likely a vessel or pathway to bringing in terrible politicians based on the fact that they are, in some form or fashion, a "first" at something.

I got a text from a friend tonight saying he listened to a 2.5 hour podcast of Tulsi Gabbard being interviewed by Joe Rogan. I don't much like Rogan. Maybe somebody else will check it out.

We’ve Hit a New Low in Campaign Hit Pieces
By Matt Taibbi
Quote:
Last week, the Daily Beast ran this headline: “Tulsi Gabbard’s Campaign Is Being Boosted by Putin Apologists”

The Gabbard campaign has received 75,000 individual donations. This crazy Beast article is based on (maybe) three of them.

The three names are professor Stephen Cohen, activist Sharon Tennison and someone using the name “Goofy Grapes,” who may or may not have once worked for comedian Lee Camp, currently employed by Russia Today.

This vicious little article might have died a quiet death, except ABC’s George Stephanopoulos regurgitated it in an interview with Gabbard days later. The This Week host put up the Beast headline in a question about whether or not Gabbard was “softer” on Putin than other candidates.

Gabbard responded: “It’s unfortunate that you’re citing that article, George, because it’s a whole lot of fake news.”

This in turn spurred another round of denunciations, this time in the form of articles finding fault not with the McCarthyite questioning, but with Gabbard’s answer. As Politico wrote: “’Fake news’ is a favorite phrase of President Donald Trump…”

Gabbard told Rolling Stone “Stephanopoulos shamelessly implied that because I oppose going to war with Russia, I’m not a loyal American, but a Putin puppet”. “It just shows what absurd lengths warmongers in the media will go, to try to destroy the reputation of anyone who dares oppose their warmongering.”

Stephen Cohen is a professor emeritus of Russian studies at Princeton University.  But because he's willing to state that the establishment is pushing fake news, he's called a Putin puppet.   :banghead:

This whole thing was just crazy. Ever since her move against the DNC the target on her head has been just plain obvious. The sad part about it is that it worked. I was hoping that facts and reason would be enough to make people realize she's not some Russian pawn or something but people keep repeating the same, false narrative. That's the power of having the media on your side, pushing an onslaught of bullshit the moment you announce your bid and you can effectively kill someone.

She was never anything amazingly special, I am just flabbergasted about what took place.

are you serious?

why does religion matter to you?

you know she is already a congresswoman, right?  do you feel that her religion impacts her current role?  did it impact her role serving as a medic on the battlefield?

Of course I know she's a congresswoman. I keep up on current issues. I'm quite serious. This is a Christian nation, and we need a Christian president. I also don't like the idea of a woman in the office.
