One of the things I love about LC's is that it's either contaminated or clean as fuck, there are no half tones, it's like a binary code where 1 is contaminated and 0 is clean. An LC can give you the cleanest spawn you could ever have or make you fuck up royally.

Over the years there has been quite the fucking fear-mongering campaign regarding LC's, where some claims such as "it's not always possible to spot a bacterial LC", "you need the right equipment to make clean LC's" or "LC is an advanced technique" have been accepted by the majority without questioning, when in reality LC's can be as noob-friendly as it gets and don't even require a modified jar whatsoever, no filters, no ships, no dicking with syringes or stir plates, just pour it like you would when G2G'ing or using LI.

If people knew how ridiculously easy LC's can get I doubt anyone could be bothered with expanding cultures to death to noc grains or even with G2G.

What do you guys think, agar to LC or Agar to grain and why? Spoiler I'll probably do both lol just curious on your preferences.

I prefer LI that I've aspirated from agar inoculated grains and stored in syringes. If I had the need for mass quantities of LC, that I intend to use quickly, I would use a small fraction of a LI syringe as inoculant. LI syringes store much better than LC syringes long term and you can make loads of LC when and if the need arises.
The last LC I made was from a tissue biopsy earlier this year. I just don't need that much (LC) inoculant.

You're so obtuse it's even irritating. No wonder all your spawn always looks like a bacterial mess.

Nothing like the sound of 2 AAs rattling away in the am...this is what I decided to do to help heat up the house. 57 jar run this time. 4 burners going. Heating up the house nice.

O wow I was actually asking about those bayou Classic Burners about a year ago.  I backed out because somebody said it was leaving pressure cooker covered in shit on the bottom.

How many runs can you get with one propane tank?

There is some carbon build up. But you can limit the amount by not running full blast.  As you shouldn't anyways. As for how many runs. It's hard to give a exact number. I use them to hydrate seed as well. But with the 4 burners. With 2 941s and  a 23quRt presto running on 3 burners and using the 4 to heat water for seed. I can process about 7-8 bags of grain. Hydrated and PCed with 4 cylinders filled once.

Does that make sense. Lol sorry

Cooking grain for new jars finally. Going to get that KSSS going. It looks like that lions mane started making little fruits quickly so I'll be making some incisions. I wish it wasn't so late. I want to make some more sawdust bags.

After a bunch of transferring I have a nice culture that fruits on agar. I'm going to put a plate into some jars tonight and cross my fingers and then transfer the rest off.

2 out of 6 L. Nuda jars still look good enough to use. This makes me happy. The other ones have weird greasy bacteria. It was a wild sample so this is to be expected. It's growing very slow compared to cube or oyster mycelium.

I feel like the three little containers didn't get it as bad as the big container. Seems to have fought off most of the pin mold. Cube vs. pin mold 2017. I just had to cut some holes in a few of my lions mane bags. These things seem to like to fruit prematurely.

Clearing off and cleaning my shelves to get ready for some edibles soon. I am going to stick all these pin mold infested tubs in the bulkhead till I can clean them. Don't want them fucking up my food.

Well yeah. Just till tomorrow. It's too cold to go out and hose em down.

Does anyone think having a humidifier in close proximity to my led shop light will start a fire?

I'm so excited about the fact that all my bags are starting to fruit. I didn't expect it to happen so early. Yay! I'm so excited I had to share it in two threads. Maybe I should have shared this in the I'm so excited thread. Not really so sad about the cubes anymore. I got jars made to start over tomorrow. I was going to do the jars tonight  but I decided to just let them cool in the PC and this way I can take them out clean. I exhausted myself sanitizing my humidifier since it hasn't been used in awhile and cleaning off the shelves and setting up the bags with holes.

Maybe you can guess what two mushies I have here. Luckily I labeled the bags cause they look pretty similar at this stage in some respects.

Just did my first proper round of inoculating agar.
2 were MS with SHIP done kind of like Doc_T's style, and the other 4 were Pastywhyte grain transfers from some f3 g2g jars.
I too am very excited to see what happens in the  coming week :yesnod:

Hell yeah. Got em done. You really do get more relaxed as time goes in the box. Hoping these guys do well. I made sure to have jars and made transfers for the rest of the KSSS just in case. Check out the primordia on this agar. The jar got a bit out of control because the KSSS moved a lot faster than I anticipated. This jar was from an agar pin. I would have took a photo with the lid open but with my contamination issues I didn't want to take the risk.

I'm going to have to finagle my shelves tomorrow to keep some of the humidity from the humidifier in. I'm so psyched about these cut little oysters coming in.
