Christianity Makes Perfect Sense

Throw out all the Church teachings, and read the teachings of it's namesake. Christianity makes perfect sense as a standard for conducting oneself among your fellow humans. Too bad so many 'believers' are more concerned with the strength of their beliefs than they are with the humaneness of their actions.

That's right!
I mean, the whole thing about Jesus saving our souls and whatnot is obviously bullshit, but when you get down to the rules to live by, like stoning adulterers to death, it's perfectly rational.

I was addressing the teachings of Christ, I don't think that he wrote Leviticus. You have missed the point of my original post.

Matthew 13:41-42
The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Jesus will do that? He's such a peaceful, nice guy.

Or how's about Luke 10:10-15, where he casts an entire city to hell for not obeying his command?

Or Luke 19:27, when he asks that those who do not obey him are brought before him and slain?

Just use Chistianity's teachings as guidelines, not as the gospel. Most people don't. That's why Christianity makes perfect dollars.

I got that point, I just don't think that's right.

Jesus says and does some mean and nasty stuff, and the rest of the bible is filled with even worse atrocities. Sure, you can pick out bits and pieces that are good advice, but if you ignore 99% of Christianity you can find bits to agree with just about any idea.

If your idea of the best way to act among your fellow humans is to slaughter disbelievers and sinners, you can find teachings from Christ that back that up, if it's to be kind and forgiving, you can find ideas that back that up as well.

Don't confuse the religion of Christianity and people's perverted version of it with what I'm saying. I'm not talking about religion, I'm not talking about "Christianity's" teachings (the religion), but Christ's teachings when I was referrring to Christianity.

Lemme rephrase:

If you consider Christianity to consist of only the lines that are good advice, then it's good advice. Of course, you could say this about anything. I wouldn't advise anyone to live by the principals of Christianity, I would say that the whole "do unto others" bit is good advice, but saying that it is the essence of Christianity is like saying that a needle in a haystack is just a needle.

Christianity is a plague in the states. Look at these fucking people. I recently had a theological argument with my aunt (no not discussion, because there is no discussion with religeous fanatics) and she told me that Christianity is a lifestyle. A freaking lifesyle? Two years ago it was a religeon! The fact of the matter is these so-called Christians do not even really know where their religeon comes from and they mutate it to fit their needs. And these are needy freakin' people! Sorry, a little hostility there. But did your mom have you running around in plaid pants telling people that you were going to heaven when you were 5? If not, get another thread.
