Ya I agree, she probably didn't want you to see the real her in person because she beleived that you would feel really dissapointed when u saw how she looked, and just wanted you to be able to keep the fantasy image of her in ur head.

Reminds me of this show I listened to a couple months back: http://www.radiolab.org/2009/nov/30/calculove/

These guys do nothing but solve math problems together...they never talk about anything else, but in a way they cultivate a strong relationship through this tightly constrained arena of interaction.

Then one guy begins to "break character". Big things are happening in his life and he wants to share with his math buddy...even though their whole relationship is built on limiting their interaction to these problems they both find interesting.

It is an inherently conflicting situation. But in the end they break the mold they've been filling and it is worth it.

It's 3 years later and I still think of her.

I suppose that's what happens when you know a facet of someone (in some sort) for a decade.

I never touched base with family but recently caught up with friends OOC and they're holding a remembrance ceremony soon so I'm going to show face and say hello to whoever is left.

I really do hate bumping this because of the influx of trolls here so please don't be assholes, my life is hard enough right now.

What a powerful thread to read, OP. I think you did the right thing by not seeing her. I know it's hard to go through something like this but you're going to be alright. I would use the remembrance ceremony to really sum up all the wonderful ways she's impacted your life so it can be cathartic. It's time to let it go
