Most people just want to make some friends and not be criticized for being themselves.
Sadly the internet is not a place that accommodates such things. Having been in many different forums all across the internet for almost a decade now, I can attest to the fact that the shroomery is among the best forums out there. At least people here have a generally good sense of how to have fun when someone is trolling/not being serious and when to give useful advise to those who need it (and everything entertaining in-between).
Now that 4chan has become a nest for newfags on their endless quests to become/create the next new meme there aren't many places left that can induce a chuckle or two in those of us who are quite jaded to the insanity of the interbutts. Thankfully, though, there's enough crazy left in the world to keep a collective of people strange enough to make this ridiculous forum run so smoothly. Now,

I think it's funny the way sometimes people here talk and say things as if they are universally known truths but it turns out it's just a belief.

I like it better when I state fact as opinion, and sometime it is more fun to state opinions as facts.

I'm just here to have fun, meet some great people and maybe learn a thing or two. Of course, it's always best to take any unqualified advice with a grain of salt. And, as the old expression goes: "go not to the internet for advice, for they will say both yay and nay".

This site can be very amusing and many of the people the original OP complains about are some of the most entertaining reads. To see someone go down in flames and still not get it, there has been some epic ones on the Shroomery.
