I havent drank for a week. Havent binged for a few months.
I bought a 200 ML bottle of fireball whiskey in the hopes that I could drink just that and be done. Was gonna test if I could get some effect off of it that would be good enough.
Roommate wanted to have a sip of the fireball to try it. I told her no because I'm testing if its enough to get drunk. (she doesnt know I'm an alcoholic)
She got irritated and went down and bought her own 200ml fireball and also a 20 pack of shots. Now shes saying I can help myself to the shots if I want. (no sexual nature to this drinking shes just offering)
I dont know what I'm mad at. Or what to describe it as.
But meh. I'll end up drinking these shots.
Fuckin a. This problem is endless. And it always snowballs. Always.
The fuck.

a week is no where near long enough to test yourself. You literally just got through a week of detox, and went right back to it.
Try going a lot longer before drinking again and honestly not drinking ever again is the way better option

When one realizes that one is responsible and accountable for ones own actions, the possibilities become endless.
Valium can help with alcohol detox symptoms, but replacing one substance with another is not a real solution. However maybe if you have access and it's all legal and next time you could just pop a [not dosage advice] when the craving hits you hard and then take a nap and rethink it.
Alcohol addiction is real and withdrawing can be fatal in rare circumstances.

The real travesty here is that anyone buys fireball as anything but a joke. Just buy rye if you want something intense. Alcoholic my ass.

Minimizing someone's problem because it's not your problem or you don't perceive as a problem is a total dick move, especially on an anonymous forum.

If you seek out Fireball unironically, then your addiction isn't as bad as you think it is. Seems pretty positive to me

I only recently tried fireball. I always thought of it as a drink people get to be funny. It tasted very good mixed with diet coke at the bar I ordered it at. Or rather a chick ordered it for both of us.
Its also not full strength. So I wanted a tiny bottle thats not full strength to give it a go.
Interesting that I need to prove I'm an alcoholic.
I could most definitely drink more than you could. Even if I wasnt aware of the competition.
Especially during my darkest days 4 years ago.
Wake up. Find a bottle. Chug the bottle. Pass out. Wake up need to go to the bottleshop for another bottle. Drink it on the way home. Pass out.
Woke up in random spots throughout my house for months. Random food would be in the house I'd have no recollection of buying.
Its amazing I was never robbed or anything like that.
But yeah. I know people who drink more than me. A bottle and a 30 pack every day. And they wont even be drunk.
I dont have the shakes in the morning. I guess thats good.
I am 30 though. So meh.
Dunno why I'm replying to this.

You should consider telling your roommate. They will probably understand and be less likely to inadvertently enable you.
Anyways from one alcoholic to another eventually you will have to kick it altogether so good luck.

I've had two other slip ups since this post. One was to have sex with a girl. Another was just because I was bored at home.
The bored at home one was bad.
The one with the girl seemed responsible.
Both are failures though. I'm feeling alright at the moment. We will see how I go.

Yeah people are downplaying it and scoring on it because it's Fireball but alcohol is alcohol at the end of the day. Doesn't matter if it's high end bourbon or Mike's Hard Lemonade.

And by the way, just to clarify, I do definitely agree that there are different qualities of alcohol that range the entire spectrum. Of course. I'm not saying a top shelf liquor, wine or even beer is the same as the low end ones. As far as taste and overall quality goes.
A $400 bottle of 750ml Grey Goose VX vodka is going to be a significantly higher quality of vodka than a $7 bottle of Skol vodka of the same size. Obviously.
But for an alcoholic, the problem and addiction remains the same, whether he or she is consuming Grey Goose or Smirnoff. Or a bottle of 16 year Lagavulin versus Fireball. Or a quality IPA versus Natty Light.
Grey Goose is the same exact proof (80) as a $4 dollar bottle of McCormick Vodka.
This is where I mean there's no difference for an alcoholic. The damage that alcoholic is doing to his or herself, mentally and physically, remains the same regardless of how high (or low) end the actual alcohol they are consuming is.

Liquor will do far more damage than Mike’s Hard Lemonade. The drink matters.

Okay sure I'll give you that, but does it really matter if the alcoholic in question is drinking 12 Mike's Hard Lemonades a day? That would still be 12 drinks a day at 5% abv. The generally accepted guideline that is used today suggests that men drink no more than 14 per week, and no more than 4 per day.
Fireball is 66 proof. Your average whiskey is around 80 proof. Yeah Fireball is a little lower on the proof scale, but if an alcoholic is taking 10 shots of Fireball a day he's still doing significant, quality of life altering damage.
For someone to imply that an alcoholic who drinks mostly Fireball is somehow a "lesser" alcoholic than one that relies on, let's say Jameson, which is 80 proof -- is really splitting hairs.
The guy who drinks Fireball every single day is still a certified alcoholic.

Alcohol is Alcohol, an alcoholic can kill themself just fine on Mikes Hard Lemonade as they can on 80proof, switching the type of drink is usually the first strategy an alcoholic tries when they realize they have a problem,
maybe they drink liqour, they will try beer instead
maybe they kill a 12 of beer, well lets switch to a bottle of wine

I also have experience here. I went through a good decade as a full blown alcoholic.
Nobody is disputing that liquor will blitz you a lot faster than Mike's Hard Lemonade.
That's not the point though. The point is, one can still be an alcoholic whether they're drinking Mike's Hard Lemonade, Fireball, or Maker's Mark.

Speaking from deep personal experience, you won't be able to stop until you really want to. I drank at least a liter or more of vodka a day for a long time. I woke up and drank before work just to make it through the day, then rushed home to get to that first swig of alcohol. I really didn't even feel the effects anymore.....I ruined my life and my health because I'm an addict. I was completely physically and mentally dependent on alcohol to make it through every day of my life.
Detox was brutal. One of the most excruciatingly painful and uncomfortable experiences I've been through. The only way the doctor could keep my from having seizures was to feed me Diazepam and then wean me off it over 2 weeks. Every day I still want to drink, I guess I'll always have that urge.
But I really wanted to stop and I did. I distanced myself from drinking period. I don't go to bars, I don't hang around friends when they're drinking. I know every day is another day I might give in to the urge, so I treat it as so. If you really want to stop, you will. Keep up the good fight and good luck.

AMEN...you have to truely be ready and desire to quit COMPLETELY for it to work. It may be due to health issues, social issues, peer pressure, or just trying to better your life but you have to be ready to put the bottle down forever.
If you're still 'testing' yourself, you're not ready to quit.
