You certainly can, just make sure to not load more than 2/3-3/4 full. You'll need to be able to break up the grains

Whatever your heart desires.

The more spawn the quicker it will colonize.

Nice, I've found some 0,5 liter jars, bought 7 of them.

I've been looking for WBS, but I've been having trouble. I find food for all types of birds, so many variety I don't know which to chose!

If you have a walmart by you this is the stuff you want. No cracked corn!

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Pennington-Seed-Wild-Bird-Ration-20lb/17256228

It may come in a clear bag but it will have economy mix and you should be able to tell if there is no cracked corn inside if the bag is clear.

However even if it has cracked corn it is not the end of the world you can still use it just fine just DONT BOIL it, rather simmer it until it is about to boil.

I found one that says that's for "indigenous birds" that must be it, right?

Yes, I wish I could find that, but I live in Europe and this was the only different thing I found. There was food for parrots, canaries,  those colorful birds, ...

Tomorrow I'm going to an old shop that specializes in birds, maybe I'll find food that says "Wild" instead of indigenous.

as long as it has millet in it you will be ok. Avoid cracked corn but you don't have to. You can also try getting rye berries, they are much easier to work with.

I have yet to find a bag of bird seed/feed that DID NOT have the ingredients listed on it.

Every one I've ever looked at had an ingredient list somewhere on it.

Just my personal experience in USA

So, even if it's 100% millet it's alright?

I think this one has millet, at least it looks like it does... Brown seeds, bege seeds. black seeds, ... for european finches.

Ok, so I have the bird seeds in the strainer.

My bird seed has a lot of black and brown seeds, I think they are other types of millet. No problem, right?

When you run your hand through the grains does it come out with water on your skin? If not you should be good, if there is an abundance of water then lay them out of newspaper or a beach towel.

Can I load the WBS into 300/370 mL jars? Would there be a problem with inoculation? My PC is only 4,5L.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't do this in smaller jars, just means less spawn to play with at the end up if you just do more jars and/or using a lower spawn:bulk ratio like 1:2 when you come to birth them in tubs/trays, just will take longer to colonise.
