Re: LSD vs Mushrooms and genuine spiritual experience [Re: Mad Season]

When I'm on LSD I go straight into a trance like state most times. I can just sit there, being one with everything. Just sitting there experiencing the 'Now' fully with my entire being. Because it doesn't do that to you it makes me question your experience. You sure you've gotten LSD before?:smirk:

Oh and could you tell me what exactly shrooms 'teach' you?

I'm not saying that I can't just chill doing nothing on acid. I'm saying it doesn't feel as natural and needed. Shrooms themselves have taught me a lot. I learned that there's more to my mind than I could have ever imagined. They've shown me that the universe(within me?) flows with a single energy that connects us all. They've shown me that I need to embrace everything good or bad in my head. They've shown me meditation far before I even got into it. They've shown me how to work on my mindset day by day. The list goes on. Acid has shown me nothing about what goes on in my head. Acid shows me the world around me is a huge mind fuck and that I need to embrace all around me. I find my acid trips have way too much energy going through me and that I can't even concentrate on my thoughts because there's so much crap everywhere clouding my judgement. I find shrooms are also way easier to achieve ego death and acid is just a mind fuck roller coaster ride. For some reason my head is crystal clear on shrooms and unsane on acid. To me the shrooms will always prevail for spirituality

I've taken mushrooms at least 30+ times and acid 3 times.  I had a thought on mushrooms once that acid does not provide a genuine spiritual experience, only a fake one.  I've had what seem like spiritual insights from both drugs but is it possible one is more genuine than the other?

Edit:  To clarify, I guess I am talking more about spiritual revelations and the thoughts that I have on these substances.

i have to agree , acid is just pure hedonism for me while mushrooms make me feel empathy for the world and all living things.

The samadhis you enter are the exact same samadhis. Having experienced both sober and psychedelic induced samadhis, I observe zero difference between the two. Since there is no difference between these absorptive states and the psychedelic states, there is even less of a difference between various psychedelics.

However what's important is what you do in sober life. If you do deeds that promote suffering then these insights are useless. The prime difference that you see between drug-induced realised beings and those on the hard sober path is that the latter actively practise spirituality and it penetrates every single aspect of their lives.

Taking a 10-strip or eating some shrooms does not make you a 'guru' or a realised one. It is your deeds which do that. And taking drugs and partying does not make you enlightened in any way shape or form. Yet these very same tools put you in the very same samadhis. Essentially, the insights are genuine. But is the person genuine?

I much prefer taking mushrooms both in theory & practice

I like that they spring up from the ground so nature has provided the perfect entheogen for you ready made, they are also easy to grow yourself if they dont grow locally during mushroom season, whereas making lsd is complicated, and if you find it (or it finds you) can you really trust the source with all these RC's knocking about?

In practice i find mushrooms easier on my system physically, i can feel LSD in my blood/system for days afterwards, whereas mushrooms feel clean & cleansing, i also find that mushrooms can be slightly less visual & more emotion oriented whereas LSD was very visual for me, which for the purpose of spirituality/meditation can be distracting, on mushrooms i find i can meditate into/with the visions, but on LSD the visions have more control, LSD may be better for the inexperienced tripper who just wants to see some 'crazy shit', i remember when i first started tripping i wanted more visual excitement that the mushrooms just weren't giving me

I really recommend finding wild mushrooms if you can, ime the mushrooms local to you are the best ones to take, and if your one of the ones who prefer the 'organic' side of mushrooms vs LSD, having wild mushrooms grown in your country further adds to that preference, the best overall experience i've had so far was from liberty caps which grow wild here in the UK, and the satisfaction of finding them is incomparable to scoring tabs of LSD from a drug dealer, i find anyway

Im definitely on the organic side of things, not to say inorganic is lesser, just that in my system organic works better, i could see myself tripping on mushrooms once a month or even a week for the rest of my life & being mentally & physically healthy, but i couldn't say the same about LSD

Yeah I can relate to that.  Mushrooms definitely do feel so cleansing and leave me with an afterglow for ages.  It feels like the healthiest drug in the world.  I hate to have favourites but I think they do take the biscuit for me.  I'm also in the UK and am enjoying hunting season at the moment

for me lsd does not work in a party setting either i tripped once and had invited people over and it ended with everyone bored out of their mind while i laid on the floor laughing hysterically while staring at the ceiling for hours having epiphany after epiphany. but it is way better when i take it alone the same with mushrooms only difference is that with mushrooms i sit in one spot and barely move on lsd i want to move and feel every muscle in my body it feels like im sober but to a different extent i feel more human and in touch with everything.

with mushrooms its like a drunk sleepy high and very hard to balance myself on it. on lsd i feel like im experiencing perfection within on mushrooms i experience perfection outside in everything in the universe. both are very spiritual and in the end take me to the same place but it is a different ride. they each hold a special place in my heart they are polar opposites yet they are identical.

although ive yet to take massive doses of lsd like i have with mushrooms but that will change very very soon

I see your point. However that's precisely why I love shrooms. I love doing absolutely nothing because doing anything clouds my thoughts. Under shrooms I don't want my body to be moving and I don't want anything distracting me. I feel shrooms automatically make me meditate which is why I feel they're way more spiritual. To me running around seeing everything in a new light is nothing like what shrooms teach. Actually the fact u think they both end in the same place makes me question your experience.

Yeah that's exactly it.  I must admit I have only ever taken LSD in party settings, so perhaps I'm not giving it a fair chance.  I know it was definitely acid, I've had a epiphanies where I feel like absolutely everything in the world makes sense, but when I come down it doesn't make sense and the next day I'm all confused.  Whereas with mushrooms, what I take back from those trips feels more like wisdom I can use in my life and I spend the next week or so glowing because I've gained a new perspective.

This last sentence kinda sums it up for me.  When I'm on mushrooms I feel like it's OK to think about everything, good and bad.  But on acid I feel like I shouldn't think about anything bad.  In fact when I do start thinking about negative stuff these so called epiphanies don't come at all, which makes me think it's quite a biased experience with no real validity.  Perhaps it's just my setting.

Yeah I mostly agree with this, but I think one of the big things mushrooms in particular do is show me my genuine authentic self and where I am going wrong when I am not being that authentic self. But as you say that experience on it's own is useless.  You have to be able to take that experience and use it in everyday life otherwise it doesn't mean anything.

the times ive taken higher doses of lsd i have ended up  laying on the floor in trance and ive never even taken more than 7 hits yet. also on lsd i get alot of similar things as i do on mushrooms but the message is more gentle and it takes more time on it to really drill it into my head. on mushrooms it tells me something fucking crazy and complicated and when im about to understand it starts on the next crazy complicated thing.
on both i hear a voice talking to me but on mushrooms its an outer voice and on lsd its inner but it is the same voice i also get it on every other psychadelic i take. both of them are spiritual its just depends on the dose you take and where you choose to do it.

for example i know alot of people that have taken 1 gram of mushrooms and gone clubbing and to raves and partied. i also know people who have slpit 1 gram of pe with 3 people and done that shit its all about the dose and where you do it. i dont think 2 hits of lsd at a party will be very spiritual but neither will be 1 gram of mushrooms or 1.7 grams in a similar situation. now change that to 1mg of lsd in the woods alone or 7 grams of strong mushrooms and i guarantee you they will both be equally spiritual and there wont be much movement during either one

you will never have a spiritual experience on lsd if you just treat it as a party drug. lsd is what got me into psychadelics, it was my first experience that truly life changing. it showed me everything i had done wrong and who i treated wrong, it showed me how i fucked up at home and how my step dad was not the bad guy. it helped me fix my relationship with my mom and step dad otherwise i would have never talked to them again. and it took me a year of no talking before i realized how much i had fucked up. it showed me the power of the human brain and how it was infinite i felt like i was part of everything i felt like a perfect human being for those brief hours of eternity. i melted with the music i had heard i could hear and see everything. listening to the wind felt like it was slowly taking pieces of me away and becoming the wind.

all the plants where alive and happy that i could see them as living, the moon came closer so i could feel its power. that was an amzing experience that i have never been close to having again especially not on mushrooms but on mushrooms i completely leave this world and its more of a tough love for me than a gentle loving experience thats intese as fuck at the same time

Yep you just summed up my LSD experiences, and I agree they do take me to the same place, I just prefer the LSD vehicle to get there. And it probably does have something to do with LSD being my first psychedelic experience. I managed to get a few incredibly clean potent tabs, and ever since then I've been in love with Lucy.
