Prayer
    #16742675 -

Is there anything more arrogant then thinking you have a direct link to a supreme being, and that he cares about you are your shitty problems enough to change his divine plan?

Yes, thinking there is a man who is a conduit with a direct link to a supreme being. Cause at least with having a personal link you don't have to essentially pray to a single man

Stupid Catholics...

Wow. Wasn't feeling particularly evil and dangerous today--stoopid [sic], moderately and all too often. Thank you for your toleration. I will pray for all of us fools as well as for you ubermenschen.

Wow Icelander, you got some serious haters. Forty-four people ignoring you? You say some stuff I can see people not liking, but nothing purposely derogatory or hateful. Oh well :rastana:

Republican Values:

1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you.
2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

Dear lord, I never ask much of you, and I've always done as you said but life is just becoming unbearable. Please lord let me win the lottery so that I may enjoy your plentiful bounty. I promise to use the proceeds to murder your enemies and pay my court fees when the sinners of america lock me up for showing little boys that the human body is meant to be shared with those in power. AMEN

I don't need your prayers. Can you guess why?

Asking for assistance/protection from a higher power calms the mind if the amount of faith overrules the amount of cynicism present in the psyche.

praying out of desperation is devoid of faith and therefore useless.

people who have no explanation for their own thought process,
for their own behavior when trying to remember something, or learn something new, are likely to assume that prayer is other than what it is.

evoking a memory or finding something that is lost is the essence of prayer.

inserting things into the stream of consciousness that may help the memory process or the discovery process makes sense.

this may be words, sounds or pictures or some ritual motions, which to any observer may seem bizarre.

being appropriately psyched enables the hunt to go more smoothly - why did cavemen paint the beasts of the hunt. planning or praying or both in one session?

that said, I do believe organized religion is as farcical as the protection rackets and other forms of bullying.

What you speak of, is this more along the lines of an affirmation?
The definition of prayer is pretty specific. Communication with a deity either asking for help or for praising and giving thanks (so he won't smite you).

...to listen--not to change God (absurd!), but to be changed by Him.

My two cents.

Prayer is a form of meditation that is meant to bring you closer to the divine. You can ask for shit sure, but the first rule is that if it's not of genuine good intention, your not getting shit, the second is that you can't just sit on your lazy ass and expect it to come to you. You really have to work towards it. You need to sort out your priorities, target a goal, and fucking do it.
It's manifestation magick.
That's what I believe.
