Icelander's proposed "Intent" rule
    #4495303 - 08/04/05 03:31 PM (11 years, 4 months ago)

If this is implemented, we will have to post our reasons behind our posts. Our concepts cannot stand alone unless we fully reveal our motivations for every line we write. "Well I was improperly potty-trained at age two and therefore..."

In this way, we can focus on the people behind the thoughts rather than the thoughts themselves. (Not too much different than today.) This should bring added clarity to our alreadly muddled forum.

What thinkest thou on this matter?

I think it's totally up to the person.  If you can handle answering someones pointed questions, then do it. If you can't/won't  then that is an answer also.  :mushroom2:.

Also, I proposed no rule. Be accurate.

I was questioning you because your post fits the discription of Baiting/Trolling. :mushroom2:

Be accurate.

Ha, ha! Now you want accuracy? I ask for that all the time, but rarely get it.

For the record, Iceman did not officially request such a rule, but I intuited that he intended the Intent rule using my mystical cognitive abilities.

You can still ask.  But your intuition was wrong in this case. I was wanting to know why you posted something and then said to disregard it.  I felt that was baiting/trolling, and I wanted to know why you felt compelled to do it. :mushroom2: I find it curious that you choose to post like this. If it's true that you are baiting/ trolling, then I think it is appropriate to ask about it. It is againt the "rules" of this forum, right?

I haven't had a good ban in a while. I need one to make me feel like a counter-culture rebel.

Well that's all fine.  It  just doesn't address my questions to you. It might be easier for you to say I don't want to answer you, than playing a game of tag.

I am not trying to dis you. I am trying to understand you and build a personal relationship to you.  I would be glad to do this via PMs if you want. But I won't disrespect you by not calling you on some shit.  :mushroom2:

I think this is a great idea. It makes me think of the movies Life Aquatic and Closer.

Like most soap opera stuff. The people never reveal anything and so can continure, as if.  Of course it's shallow and boring to discerning viewers. :snore: Please resist baiting/trolling. The mods are afraid of you I hear, so I will have to say it.

This reminds me of when I was first here and I posted something to the effect of "whats so special/scary about Swami.  I still can't figure it out. You do come on gruff at times. If that's all it takes to scare people; no wonder the world is ruled by idiots. ( This last sentence does not refer to you. You are not an idiot. You are just....

You are not an idiot.

Sometimes I let my inner idiot out and it is not a pretty sight. I try to keep him down as much as possible. For some reason, after five martinis at a nightclub, he suddenly appears and likes to think he is sexy and indestructable and start fights and then the bastard gets in my car and drives like a maniac, yet he leaves me to mop up the mess and pay the lawyer fees. Yoo hoo! Oh Froggy!

People often interpret threats to their beliefs as threats to their selves. This is why the "scary" response is often evidenced. One's beliefs and ones self are separate. Many do not accept that one can be destroyed while the other continues.
