It's his right to give his money to whomsoever he wants.  It's also the rights of people to boycott him.

And other people can give money to gay rights groups--that's their rights.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution

Persecution is the systematic mistreatment of an individual or group by another group. The most common forms are religious persecution, ethnic persecution, and political persecution, though there is naturally some overlap between these terms. The inflicting of suffering, harassment, isolation, imprisonment, fear, or pain are all factors that may establish persecution. Even so, not all suffering will necessarily establish persecution. The suffering experienced by the victim must be sufficiently severe. The threshold level of severity has been a source of much debate.[1]

care to show us where the groups that dan cathay is donating to is persecuting people?

And all these people are harassing and terrorizing employees?

This is what happens in every national controversy in this country. People on both sides take it too far, and the media only covers the two extremes.

People who are doing what you've mentioned are ignorant. Plain and simple.

there's a lot of things you dont hear about but that doesnt mean it doesnt
happen, the problem is publishing all of the truth about something doesnt
sell the agenda the media wants to push

yeah, the way i see it is they (conservatives) want to be able to do their thing, as long as you're not gay or have views other than theirs, if so you can burn in hell cause that's what the bible says and to hell with your rights cause you're a sinner.

WHY IS THIS AN ISSUE!?!?!?!?!

STFU mass media

STFU "gay community" (who are they anyways?) I bet most gays think this is rediculous... of course they like all the talk about it- so don't they win in this situation technically?

STFU Chicago guy- you have work to get back to wtf are you doing out of your office? Your state and city is so fucked up, why the fuck do you have an opinion on this? fuck you

STFU Mike Huckabee- you lost, noone voted for you, STFU and go home and fuck your ugly wife- noone cares about you stop trying to get so much attention. Also, I believe you had no clue about what was going on- you just wanted a chicken sandwich and you knew it you dick

STFU CEO of chick fil a WE KNOW YOUR VIEWS and I agree, but when I voice my opinion noone freaks out because I don't own a huge company that resembles my views.

WE ALL KNOW HE SAID WHAT HE SAID KNOWING HE WOULD GET MORE BUSINESS! Baptist Capitalism? New term for Christians priming their own pumps? Yay or nay? :rofl2:

Here are the real issues:

1.) The mass media ignoring real issues:shrug:

2.) Chick fil a's spicy chicken sandwich, as delicious as I think it is after eating 100 of them in my life so far, is way too fucking hot (you used too much red pepper you idiot)

3.) It's overpriced chicken (sold by a Christian-based company owned by rich white and southern Baptist motherfuckers)- is this not a great representation of capitalism?:facepalm3:

4.) those lines were so long- why the fuck would anyone go there? Go home and eat a salad america, you fat fucks that love standing in long lines for stupid shit. "Let's support the Christian view by being gluttons and eating unhealthy food..."

4 continued) America is fat as fuck stop eating fried food!!! let's ignore everything about this situation... and just watch those videos without sound- wow oh wow america looks crazy... wow. kids in africa would kill to eat chick fil a- we do it to say fuck you to the gays haha

5.) Is the food prepared in a "Christian way"? I believe the chicken involved is genetically fucked with and shit, correct? Aren't those chickens "grown" in super huge chicken factories where they are born and die in a small cage that never sees sunlight?

I'm against gay marriage because I don't believe there is such a thing, but I'm not trying to become a glutton to voice my opinion. I also have a few gay friends who respect me for my views because I don't push them on anyone like everyone else. I respect their views. Actually, I hardly ever voice my opinion except when asked and fuck that chicken it's not that good unless I'm high and drunk (which is also the only situation where I buy overpriced shitty food)

C'mon guys

We're better than this America- let's hijack this issue and make it look how it should- fucking ridiculous!

:facepalm: america x10 :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

My point is only to defend "discrimination" against a business whose "speech" (apparently now synonymous with "money") directly funds persecution.

Chik-Fil-A is mostly found in the South where people really cotton to gay-bashing. This type of event (by which I mean the counter-boycott in favor of Chik-Fil-A) doesn't help people live with their urges in a hostile community. For God's sake, man, do we really need another hundred-page Shroomerites Anonymous thread debating whether or not it's "gay" to suck your friend's dick?

What is so wrong about gay people being married that warrants spending millions of your own money to prevent it?

And don't sidestep the question by using some retarded platitude, don't tell me that's what God wants, and don't tell me its unnatural.

Every reason traditional marriage supporters have to defend their actions is irrelevant, or flat out wrong.  If its because of your religion, you can't use that as an argument for government policy. If you think its unnatural, there are hundreds(if not thousands) of animals that exhibit homosexuality on occasion.  It is for this reason alone that gay equality advocates (the national majority) look down at these people as bigots.  They're rationale is as misguided and ignorant as those who wanted to keep interracial marriage illegal.

What I find disturbing is people screaming that Chick-Fil-A is 'discriminating' because the CEO SAYS he is against gay marriage.  I don't find expressing an opinion discrimination.  There is something in our country called 'Free Speech.'

pretty strange considering about 20% of their workforce is gay, I know several
people in their corporate offices that are openly gay and they experience no
discrimination, I also know a number of people in the stores that dont have
any issues. not saying that it doesnt happen but since this little controversy
has come about I believe it will happen more frequently

Quote:
Now, I support gay marriage.  However, I also support the right of a person who owns a business to say he doesn't.

the way i view gay marriage, if I dont want one I dont have to have one but
I also see it as a violation of the equal protection clause based on sexual
orientation since heterosexuals are allowed to legally marry and it has to
be recorded by the states it's only fair that the same be afforded to all
people in the US... and to think, we both have conservative views, makes you
wonder who pushes more hate, the media or conservatives

like you, I believe that what was said falls under the first amendment, it's
his right to support or believe what he wants and I support his right to say
it just as I support the rights of others to say what they want

california had gay marriage on the ballot, it failed. california is considered
a gay/liberal state, what do you think happened? the gay community seems to
believe that black people are to blame. does that mean the gay community

I guess you dont understand my first post. when you act to do something to
draw attention to this issue it makes them stronger, chik-fil-a has made
millions more each day because of a boycott

McDonalds came out in support, their sale started slipping as have all the
other fast food companies that have come out in support of gay marriage. bad
publicity is publicity. want to boycott something, keep your mouth shut and
hope others do the same, then the sales slip. how much did we hear about the
top 3 fast food places and their support of gay marriage?

I just talked to my baptist father about this- he says "marriage is defined as being between a man and a woman- it always has been for thousands of years even before Jesus ever came into existence... also the Jews and Muslims have practiced the same views for as long as history goes back, right?"

Good point, so I said "why is the argument backed by religion- isn't this a legal issue regarding citizens? Like I understand people like you believe we're all God's children but what about the people who don't? Aren't laws designed for human beings living in a human society?"

He said "God is right and the Bible is true, and the law has always been the law and always should be"

I said "this is complicated... but I hate how I can't argue about anything with you because you pull the 'bible card' and end a somewhat intelligent conversation. Remember when black people used to use different bathrooms and have to sit in the back of the bus? Remember when alcohol was illegal (whilst we both drink yuenglings)? Laws change, right?"

He then went on and on about how our founding fathers were all devout christians.

I went on and on about how they were required to grow cannabis and how they definitely drank their fair share of alcohol. I also made the point that they were all technically traitors aka criminals and how Jesus was also a criminal.

He then turned on Fox News and told me to be quiet
