Small Trich spot in Big Monotub! Can she be saved, or should I toss it?
    #15694941 -

I just found a Small Trich spot in Big Monotub! Can she be saved, or should I toss it? Please tell me what you think, experience is much preferred instead of speculation  Thanks

In my experience if you see the mean green toss it out. On several occasions
I have salted substrates, cut the offending spot out after spraying down
with water to keep the spores from going airborne...in all cases the trich
came back, spread and the project ended up being tosses regardless. After
being tossed I cleaned my area with a 10% bleach solution, and did a deep
clean.

The biggest reason for tossing the substrate out is to avoid contaminating
your grow area with a large concentration of trich/contaminate spores. A
lot of people find that once a few projects go south and are kept around
for to long, all their grows after that point are failures and succumb to
contamination.

It is better to act now, get rid of the project, try to figure out your
vector of contamination, regroup and try again.

sterilize a spoon scoop it out and some surrounding material. spray infected area with h2o2 water mix. and keep an eye on it, worth a try unless you have another batch ready to go

Everything can be saved from complete loss.  But would you rather spread spores throughout your grow area or just lose one tub.

Cut it out go 2inchs around it spray with h202 or even a bit of rubbing alcohol who gives a fuck mushrooms are resilent fucks. No need to waste a whole tub. I think cob web an trich mold can be repaired most of the time however I don't try to save anything with black red pink or any kind of shit lol

Look at it as not losing a tub, but saving your grow area from having a
LARGE concentration of trich spores. I have to disagree with the above
two posters as far as their suggestion to try and save things.

As far as "saving things" my only suggestion is place the substrate outdoors
in a shaded area if you live in an area with warmer weather this time of
year. Otherwise scrap it for the sake of you're future projects.

I find most people who post the question you have asked are just looking
for encouragement to save things:shrug: No offense intended tho brother.

I would be chiming in to echo EM's thoughts (I wanted to
add the outdoor option dammit ;0) but he has the TC tag,
and deservedly so, so you should take him at his word.

Do try if you want to.  I have seen mushroom fruiting
from subs right alongside the trich...but I have never
seen trich beaten by fungus or man.

Good luck,

JD

No your exactly right I am looking for a reason to save it.  I prepare all my grains and tubs at home then i transport them to a buddys house. When I prepare my tubs i wipe down the whole bathroom with bleach religiously, spray air sanitizer, along with a freshly laundered pair of clothes, shower, mouth wash, brushed teeth, everything.  I really don't know how I could be any cleaner.  I think it must be my pasteurization process, I'm using straw and I put it in pillow cases, large pillow cases, so I think the center might not have reached proper temps.  The only thing Im aware of that I could fine tune would be to put the straw/poo in smaller pillow cases? Like i said Im careful as fuck when it comes to prepping my tubs and my spawn room so I'm kinda at a loss. Unless something happened when they where taken in my car for the short trip to a friends house.  Damn WTF happened.......Thanks TC I'm gonna throw this bitch out I guess...unless you think i could stick it in my buddys spare bedroom? Damn I don't wanna throw it out, fuck, shit, cunt face, dammit, tits, ass, harry balls, saggy tits, smelly nuts, sweaty boobs and shit fuck!

H202 does nothing for green and only damages the good.

h2o2 does nothing for trich and harms the mycelium. It'll help for cobweb mold but not anything else, period.

Digging trich out with a sterilized spoon isn't a great idea either. It's pretty much always pops up again within a few days. Toss it or stick it outside, season permitting.
