h202 Spray Solution
    #2439696 - 03/16/04 04:22 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

So ive been reading to get 3% hydrogen peroxide for spraying cakes, to make sure theyre not contaminated (wondering about spiderweb-pretty sure i dont have it just wanna be safe)
So do you spray the hydrogen peroxide(3%) straight or mix it with water? Its safe to spray on the cakes right? Thanks

I never used H2O2 for healty cakes. Yesterday I checked
my terrarium and a couple of cakes had twice green spots.
I took a syringe, mixed water with 10% of H2O2 and fighted
the mold

H2O2 is great to fight contam, but I donno if a long usage
on the mycelium could harm it...

So was the solution 90% water and 10% (3%h202) solution? So like .3% h202?

I normally make a solution of about 20% h2o2 and 80% water and use that to spray cakes and or casings. I've also used plain water. The cakes really don't seem to care all that much. I've never had a cake contam before its run was over so maybe the h2o2 solution works or maybe I've been lucky, I don't really know.

The 3% H2O2 is the solution of the bottle you buy.
Then you take a 10% of it and mix it with water

Of course, concentration of the H202 solution purchased can vary (e.g 6% or 9%), and the ratio adapted accordingly (95% water to 5% of 6%H202, or 97%water to 3% of 9%H202 solution).

And yes, when dealing with cubensis, an H202 solution prepared in this way can be used to replace water for pretty much any operation (soaking of grain, dunking, spraying) to reduce contams.

H2O2 is the shit. The cakes (or casings) don't mind at all (in fact they actually like it). I buy the 6% solution and mix it up like 10/1 with spring water, then spray it on. I've even mixed it stronger and they still don't care. I haven't had contam problems since I started using it regular. A lot of times my casings will foam all up just like a wound would after applying H202. Give it a couple of days and they're back to growing.

Does H202 fight green mold?!!!!! :frown:
I see it on 1 shroom, should i somehow remove that part of the cake? Should I remove the shroom?
