3 days minimum , and could take up to 10-14 days at the longest , this all depends on strain , enviro conditions etc ... Beef bulion agar mix huh ?> Never heard of that , if you keep having bad luck , perhaps it is the agar mix . Sporeworks sells several types of agar , and one jar is plenty for the average grower , you might want to consider using a premade agar mix IMHO . Good Luck "May The Mushroom Goddess Bless Alll Your Endeavors !"

I never said it wouldnt grow i asked why you would wont to use meat products for a species that survives on celulose.Weather it works or not.Potatoes agar and water are pretty easy things to source? So i ask again why would you use meat products?Workerbal or not.

I've been trying to feed a couple of them bacon.....why just go for meat when you can have pork....MMMMmmmmm....bacon.....
do you really think that there are any meat products in todays over proscessed foods....Mc Donalds is using 60% mushrooms in their chicken nuggets in many countries, and looking at the chemical makeup of most agars it contains peptone, where would we derive peptone from....did you know that mushies can grow in beef broth agar? the thing that you have to be aware of is the salt content...a quarter to a half of a boullion cube is a better amount...adding dextrose or potato flakes is even better....
you guys would be amazed at just how many substances spores will grow on....

Prisoner #1 gave me this tek and I posted it on here. If you use powdered potato flakes it will work much better for use with cubes, some other species prefer the boullion though.

Food grade agars are produced with gracilaria or gelidiella seaweed's and the gel strength of food grade agar is lower than bacteriological grade agar... gelling temperature of food grade agar is also higher than that of bacteriological grade.
bacteriological grade agar is only extracted from gelidium sesquipedalis seaweed's. Agar is colloidal substance...it is insoluble in cold water... but disolve in boiling water. After this is done to needs to be autoclaved in order to ensure it's sterility. Agar is of course what you grow multitudes of different bacteria, molds, fungi and other pathogens on... so in short...Agar is a vegetable based gelatin.....I think all of this is in the FAQ

Gelatine is not the same as agar and it is a poor substitute.
