oh disclaimer: please don't use that as an excuse to not take what I have to say seriously, as i'm obviously an intelligent human being.  Instead, maybe consider how it's possible that an intelligent human being could hold such a belief.  I promise, it's not out of comfort, although it may be out of a love for all things fucking awesome.

That's the mentality that keeps putting harmless potheads in prison next to rapists and murderers despite the material evidence on the (non)-harm caused by marijuana.

Good job hyperbolizing the fuck out of what i said. If there's material evidence for something, especially something like drug incarceration, by all means listen to the evidence.  But some notions are beyond the scope of material evidence when they are of a fundamentally spiritual/occult nature and demanding hard physical evidence before belief is very intellectually timid.
