Terrence McKenna thoughts about alien life
    #14142860 -

Some of what he is saying here I coincide with. Directly with the states about how alien life would be intelligent, and therefore would not destroy us.

I think the argument could made that any intelligent aliens would due to their intelligence destroy us.  We kinda suck in a lot of ways.

Any truly intelligent alien would see what we were up to and do away with us in short order as a mercy.

Nope, you sucking has nothing to do with whether or not you think you suck.

it was just a figure of speech.
people are so pessimistic about humans and what we're doing.

they dont seem to realize that our morals and actions were MUCH worse in the past.

sitting here being able to type and display my thoughts to millions of people doing the same, in peace, is quite an awesome feat if you ask me

So what? Just because we were shittier in the past than we are today doesn't mean we're shitty. :glittershitz:

So? Just because there are some positive aspects to the human race doesn't mean that it generally sucks ass.

dont get me wrong, it still sucks ass in many ways, but to say "I think the argument could [be] made that any intelligent aliens would, due to their intelligence, destroy us.  We kinda suck in a lot of ways."
is a more wild statement.

aliens know about us, they have been for a verrrrry long time, longer than bible and the flood. the human race is careless with its free will but its also very unique.

i mean why are we still here? :hmm:

Aliens don't know about us and have never known about us and the proof is that we are here.

Also we are no more unique than any other life form.:satansmoking:

also there is very little or no evidence for free will.

I completely disagree--why do you think a highly intelligent species would give a shit about us? And what makes you think they would be able to feel compassion?

You have no proof for either aliens having visited us, "the flood", or free will.

Maybe they haven't found us, maybe they have but were indifferent, maybe they have plans in store, or maybe they don't even fucking exist.

these arguments (aliens, supernatural, phenomenon) typically dwindle down to a "believe what you want" scenario. :assimilate:

True--you believe aliens exist, and I admit to not having a fucking clue about whether or not they do.

although, even if one alien/ufo caught on tape, even if one incident recorded is not fake, means they do exist.
but like you said, kinda hard to prove those things.
believing in aliens just fits in my personal philosophy, not anything drastic or dogmatic, just kinda like, the birds that fly in packs overhead, you see them, theyre there, but dont really care to associate with them.

as long as they dont probe me we're good  :philkensebben:

edit: also forgot to add what some theorists said that the jungle theory works here. the way we look at a jungle as a human race, is like "that place has a lot of shit going on, we dont have the time or energy to care about such things or place. plus is all moist and dirty in there."
the theory states that this is the way aliens see our planet, that they have much more important things to attend to
