FINALLY pan subbs for lil ole me!!

well i finally did it. ive been picking actives since 93-94 and ive never seen a subb until today!!:grin:
i pretended to be a noob yesterday. i went on google earth, found this field around where i work and where ive never picked, got off my night shift, find the field and what do i find.... a new species on my list!!:grin: now i gotta print these and spread em at my local park where there is huge horse shit piles.:wink:

this is tripped out how theres a lil one growing off the top eh!! wtf!

not 100% on these big ones but they were right around that patch. they lack the distinct reddish fuzzy stem like those other ones but i think they are the same. these were the only mushrooms in the whole field, just on this shi pile.

That one is huge!  I found the biggest subbs I've ever seen last weekend, but that one looks way fatter.

Congrats!

And looking at your pics, I still think the ones I found weren't really subbs.  Yours have the hairy (and thicker) stems that mine didn't have.  Although now with all this talk of "wild" vs. "lawn" I wonder if that could be a factor--can the same species have a different stem based on its growing conditions?

Yes, it can. The dung variety / wild pan.subb's tend to have thicker stems and be more meaty. The lawn variety tend to be smaller & and the stems seem to be much weaker.

thanks everyone!! :grin: i cant believe how big that bastard is, its bigger or as big as a large cube! the stem was as thick as my middle finger!! the print is like 5-6 inches across.

its pretty neat that little baby eh!  its the icing on the cake, its cool to find something new, but to find something new with a photo opurtunity like that is amazing!

obviously we know these are subbs with out even seeing a print, but here it is anyways. jet black, i cant beleieve i id request these before! they are just stand out compared to foes when you see them in person.
