Lighting and FAE experiment COMPLETED 5

Wanted to try something different. I like the idea of electric fans because the FAE can easily be altered without re-stuffing polyfill or drilling new holes. Not only that, the lids follow the fruiting tubs.
3 feet total of waterproof 6500k LED lighting giving me around 330 lumens if I remember right. SAN ACE 40 high speed server fan
Attached to lid
Air filtration
LEDS 12 on/12 off Fans on every 3 hours for 3 minutes Heavy misting once a day, it's Verking

Looks like some pretty cool modifications
Good luck with your experiment
Is the fan on a timer? Or do you turn it on manually?

Yes, everything but the misting(working on that now!) is automated with timers.

This is a brilliant idea for stealth growing!
however, the fan should not run all the time as it will decrease the humidity inside of the tub.
May i please make another suggestion? It might be good to add in a mister nozzle as well, and if you wanted to keep it stealthy, compartmentalize it all on the side with a small water reservoir as well.

also, you could EASILY hook everything up to an Arduino microcontroller and have everything timed by that. it's retardedly easy and simple to do, but very fun.

Good ole fashion regular monotubs are set and forget. To me thats retardedly easy and simple to do.i couldn't imagine running 10+ of these.it would probably also double my cost.

you're right, but regular old monotubs aren't really stealthy either. this particular project has a lot of potential.

That's funny 404 you mention the Arduino, I have already done this, I just got my new CNC machine for milling the PCBs to plug the ESP8266 chips into. Here is a screenshot for the controlling the parameters which is connected to my home wifi network to run the 4 relays. it's about 6 pages of programming so far and is still in beta. Runs a heat bulb, fan, LEDs, and an ultrasonic humidifier, the website to control the relays is also hosted on the esp8266, I used strings to inject HTML into C for simplicity

6 pages? hory sheeeit. are you going to go open-sauce with your project?
also... i was looking into plotly and another website to stream the data to for a project of mine... i haven't programmed anything in a while though... too depressed and unfocused and up shit creek to bother.

This is cool because of the potential stealth.
The funny thing is, if you were to have just posted your idea and asked if it would work, you would have been run out of town with pitchforks..lol.
Of course, as already said, monos are already basically set and forget, but they are not perfect for everyone and I can see this kind of set up filling in some of the gaps. This isn't going ot be for everyone, including me, but I can see it's appeal for sure, especially if you can get it dialed in to maximize FAE and RH balance.

What would be ideal CFMs for an 18 gallon tot? These fans are 20cfm, 15,500 rpms, 320 Pa(static pressure)@ 12v. It's funny I can plug one of these fans in and it will slide across the room very fast I have them turn on every 3 hours for 3 minutes. That's 60 cfm every 3 hours. Is there an equation for the FAE requirements in regards to mycelium and its size? I'm not really finding anything from uncle google. I think moisture content has a lot to do with it, you could technically run the fans 24/7 with a crazy misting system if you think about it but...
San Ace 40 fan = 20 cubic feet per minute @ 100% efficiency 18 gallon tot = 2.4 cubic feet mycelium = 0.57 cubic feet (13x19x4/1728) Now that really only leaves me with 1.83 cubic feet of available air space.

the critical difference, this guy actually went out and put it together and did it. and then posted a picture.

a minute should be sufficient. think about it - you're moving 60 cubic foot of air in/out of the tub... and how big is the tub? probably not 60 cubic foot lol. you would want to run the fans a little less than you are suggesting i would guess, the idea is to keep the humidity high. would like to agree with the misting system idea, but at what cost? i think you would stand to save more power operating the system less to be more reasonable.
do you plan to make this fully automated and monitored? there's so much potential for this, very excite
