I haven't had any luck finding these in ohio yet. I go to horse pastures and look and at piles of maure and straw at horse stables regularly and not a single mushroom, y is this?

Early spring until fall is when they are most likely to come up, they still rely on other environmental factors. Just cause you're supposed to work from 8-5 doesn't mean you don't call in sick every now and then... mushies need rain, right temps all sorts of stuff.
If you aren't finding any mushrooms, you're either not looking hard enough or they just aren't there. Try back later when the weather changes.

Peace - @cro

T^hey come up with the first sprintg rains in rotted haystacks and compost heaps and grow until around May. Than they come up in the fall right after the fall rains before it gets too cold.

That is theur oprimary US season.
Early Spring and early fall months.

mj Atr the end of May it is too hot for them to grow. and that last until the fall rains began.

That is for the west coast and should also pply to the east coast.
They are rare but cosmopiltan.

Not everyone finds them or even enough to get high and then there are those who find large fruiting of them.

m,j

Haven't you been paying attention? The midwest hasn't gotten more then .25 inches of rain in the last month until yesterday. Go out hunting this weekend and don't forget to check the woods for morels. They'll be up in your area very soon.

I went out today while it was raining in the same place I always go. I found a few snails and a bunch of melted down inky's. Hopefully this is a good sign of moisture and they will be popping up with the heat.
