This is so wrong
    #1271941 -

"This" meaning the American version of "Democracy"... or whatever you want to call this giant mess(?) these days.

Just a minute, before this gets moved to Political Discussion....(mods: if you truly care don't move it please )

Why is it ok for an invisible entity only existing on paper and in our minds (after a good Education, of course) to control our lives?

The government.

"They" can check my urine for traces of substances that are "Bad" for me because I was arrested for a non-drug related incident.
I happen to enjoy smoking marijuana.  It doesn't affect my life in a negative way.
Why is it ok for "Them" to punish me for it?

Remember now, "They" don't actually exist.
The people involved in the urinalysis process here have probably never even met a Congressional representative.
The desk jockeys who deal with probation cases are probably even further removed from the political process.

What do they have to gain by opressing me and others like me; like US ?

A paycheck.
They're just trying to get by.
Just like I am.
Will I ever be able to help them to understand?

The System our predecessors and some of you older folks have made is so powerful.
It's been designed to completely dominate our thought processes.
Anything we think must be checked against The System before it's spoken aloud or written for all to see.

Someone says something that doesn't fit with your version of The System?
It's wrong!
"He's wrong for smoking that ILLEGAL herb!"

"I'm right because my boss said so!"

Anyone have any answers to my questions in bold?

I have found that you can find happyness in slavery.

Is an elaborate dream?

Is it all you want it to be?

That may be true.
Although the last thing I would admit to being is a slave, I have found hapiness... in me

Because we let it, and because they can.

Well...

Is it okay for this "nonexistant" entity to restrict things like murder?

"It's been designed to completely dominate our thought processes. "

It has? Who designed it this way?

Do you honestly believe the founding fathers were cackling maniacally as they brewed up their evil ploy to control the minds of americans for generations?

Nobody works like this. There are no evil people like in the movies. Everyone BELIEVES that they are working on the side of good. Even if they are only working in their own interests.

Without a legal system, the United States would be a hell of a lot worse. It would be a constant warzone.

There are flaws, definately. The drug war is misguided, and pushed by people who are either misinformed, or looking for votes.

It's a dying beast though, which is good. Democracy is more effective than you may think in forcing the government to reflect the will of the populace. It's just slow. Also, public opinion is still split on the subject of drugs. Lots of people still think marijuana should be illegal.

No. I should have said it's evolved to completely dominate our thought processes.

Now and in the past this would be true.
Things are changing... rapidly.
And not because Terrence McKenna said so.
Just look around.

Like you say, it's a dying beast and I fully intend to see it buried in my lifetime.

And I wonder how many of those people would change their minds if they actually knew why natural things like marijuana are illegal.
Reefer Madness and other such drug propaganda was not for our safety. It was for Theirs.

The only reason we let it occur is because we're not educated enough.
The internet is helping with this though.
Now anyone can find out that Geroge W's grandaddy did friendly business with the Nazis, among a myriad of other damning information that can completely destroy one's faith in the un-Constitutional thugs who've stolen our Government from us.

People should be rioting in the streets yet we sing "Give Peace a Chance" at protests. GWB and the elites don't give two shits about peace.
The only parts of them tangibly affected by war is their bank account, and it's usually getting bigger as the population in another third world country gets smaller thanks to our bombs.
To them, Peace is the worst kind of business... no business.

We need to act (speak) so that they will listen instead of keeping a safe distance.
Singing "Give Peace a Chance" at barely audible levels for added emotional effect is just lame.

We need to use their tactics.
Propaganda, low level mind control.
Posters are cheap to print out... staple guns are 10$.

Slogans like "BUSH LIES" look great in a bold 250 size font on the side of a telephone poll.
