like it or not it is a Universal Truth

a Guru that teaches you to realize the Self is a true Guru

a 'guru' that teaches you anything else is NOT a Guru
they are a teacher, and a misleading one at that...

A Guru means - the one who removes darkness/ignorance (the one who enlightens)

The only way to remove darkness\ignorance is to know the Self, which is the light & wisdom of Consciousness, teaching anything else other than Self knowledge is just adding more ignorance, enlightenment is to Know ThySelf, not to know how to breathe or stretch or follow a 'spiritual' beleif system
which is all yogananda or his compadres taught...

My whole Being lives for Absolute Truth, calling me dishonest is like water off ducks back

This is all the stuff that Mushroomy sez. He's got nothing to back it and you've got the same.

It really sounds delusional and I have to suspect religiously motivated as in winning converts. Most likely for you not to swell the ranks but to confirm your beliefs to yourself and bolster your self image. Not unusual as we all do that.  Otherwise you wouldn't post in this forum IMO. You really don't talk about much other than your agenda and you never present evidence for that. If you are really out of here like you say that's a really good thing for this forum IMO.

so bye.

So far there has been zero evidence, just a lot of blather. How about something > 0?

It seems that the only evidence which would erase doubt would be, being enlightened. I did not suggest that we should believe in enlightenment. That is different than believing in the possibility of it.

Well I think even OC believes anything is possible. But given all the evidence how likely is it? If it's tremendously unlikely then it's not worth thinking about much.

Enlightenment, despite the idea that we can instantly poof ourselves into some constant state of supreme being if only we knew the magic words, is described by the Buddha among others as a series of steps.

And coincidentally, these steps are things that are desirable in their own right. Instead of propping enlightenment up as an idol of worship destined to become sour grapes, it might be better to take a look at the steps and judge them based on their own merits.

I agree, much of what the buddha found makes good psychological sense. Very much like Rational Emotive Behavior.

Attachment brings suffering. This one thing if dealt with would change one's experience of life so dramatically that one would feel reborn.

Orgone, there is nothing special about enlightenment. But a fully enlightened being would be phenomenal. Although i never met such a fully enlightened one i guess HH Dalai Lama comes close. He's ordinary but conveys in his words a deep understanding of our human nature and shows great care for our well being. Aren't those signs of a great awareness, of enlightenement? If not this ability to show empathy and use knowledge in a wise way, then what is a measure for enlightenment?

Just the other day you said you really liked that i post here, now you say you'd be glad to see the back of me, charming!
You've done this countless times before, one day your interested & agreeable then the next day your saving face telling me to leave the forum...its really ridiculous

I would not enjoy this forum as much without you here, i would never tell you to leave or say im glad to see the back of you, i only ever want you to experience this perfect undiluted bliss im talking about

Thanks for such a nice goodbye tho Ice, ill try to remember to not bother having anymore conversations with you, which is what you say want :frown:

I never said I didn't enjoy your posting. I said (listen up) that it would be good for this forum if you and all the folk who belong in that other forum would go post there and not post here.

Don't be so defensive that you can't read and understand the post.

I do enjoy some of your posting. Its just is a distraction and inappropriate in this forum IMO. (once in a while would be tolerable but you're a broken record)

Now if you move over I promise to check in on ya from time to time.

That's because that forum was designed for your kind of posting and fucking insisted on by people in the past who post in your style.

Do you ever post over there? If you do why?

You know it's a very common tactic to say this this is so rich coming from you

when one can't defend their position logically.

IMO all you do over here (for the most part anyway) is proselytize.
