Is certain self expression a sign of self-hatred?

or some form of a inner self problem. As far as somebody having so many tattoos on their body to the point where their whole body(from head to toe) looks like one big painting, or either somebody having an abundance of piercings like 10 of them per ear, 5 of them in the nose, 4 of them per eye brow, 5 of them under the bottom lip, and 1 in the belly button.

Maybe but it seems unreasonable to suggest that it is always so, especially if the body art is culturally appropriate. But even if someone has self-hatred motivating their body art, they could also have additional motivators for getting tattoos and piercings... such as, they are really really cool man! :cool:
