If you are thinking I'm a COMPLETE FUCKING MORON then GOOD!!! I need your help! My friend said this to me and I called him....well...a complete fucking moron. He said that he doesn't believe "people on the internet over a professor" (who the fuck is teaching him????) Anyways can anyone give me a website or site an article from someone REPUTABLE (doctor or the likes) that proves he's a twit? Thanks!!!

You don't need to prove shit. He's the one making ridiculous claims. He needs to come up with the documentation, or you can continue to call him a retard.

I don't know of any articles that may help you, but you should speak to him thusly:  "My brain has swollen greatly from the use of mushrooms.  This means my brain is bigger than yours.  This means I wield greater cognitive abilities than you.  This, in turn, means you should defer to what I say.  Good day sir."  That should clear up any debate you have with him.

And acid creates big holes in your brain.

I've tripped so many times (acid and shrooms) that I can't even begin count them, and I'm still more intelligent than 95% of the people I meet on a daily basis.

I've never seen documented proof of shrooms causing deaths or even dangerous side affects.

I ate food I bought at a gas station today, and I'm damn sure that it did more damage than all the shrooms I've ever eaten.

I would slap him and demand proof. Or just slap him.

Ask him if his professor can explain how the binding of psilocybin to endogenous 5-HT receptors causes cells to uptake water and cause swelling. (hint: he can't). You can't provide proof that it doesn't cause swelling of the brain, so the onus is on him to provide proof it does. Ask him to find credible proof.

EDIT 1: "Psilocybin mushrooms are not toxic. The National Institute For Occupational Safety And Heath (NIOSH) in the US Psilocybin (641) is rated less toxic than Aspirin (199) and Nicotine (21)."

If they caused your brain to swell, would NIOSH rate it less toxic than Aspirin?

How can you expect someone to come with an article about something some hack pulled out of his ass? I know I wouldn't waste time writing about debunking shroom myths. The way I see it, that just undermines any respect people might have regarding the war on drugs. They can bury their own hole the way I see it.

Which reminds me: My pathophysiology course book talks about people jumping out of windows and breaking their chromosomes when they take LSD :rofl:

I've never read anything about your brain swelling when you consume psilocybin... and I've read impartial health studies, Anti-Drug counsels, Pro-Drug eg psilocybin for potential use as an anti-depressant.  I've even read controversial allegations of psilocybin effects that have never made mention of brain swelling.

I agree, slap him.

Ok thanks guys. I guess because I have heard of this myth before and thought it was a widely known myth, that there would be an article on it or something (like the myth that weed kills brain cells, you can find articles on that). I hate dealing with ignorant people, but I can't hate it too much....I used to be a 'tard too.

Not sure if you can prove that there is no brain swelling since it is just a myth and no science journal is going to say 'oh by the way your brain doesn't swell like some people say it does!' If anything I would point out the study that finds shrooms may produce long-term feelings of well-being.

you know what really gets me is when people who have taken mushrooms or acid and they claim they reason why you trip is because your brain bleeds but yet they continue to take them and make it out like brain bleeding is a minor thing. yeah i know they don't make your brain bleed but ah nevermind...
