Dick Schultes told me that the man in this image is a tribal chieftan who is the most important and top producer of hashish in afghanistan. When they went to photograph and interview him Dick said they rode in an open jeep with armed guards and six jeeps full of bodyguards folloed behind and along side of them.

hashish in afghanistan is cheaper than its american weight in poting soil.
and you dont have to go far to find a kilogram block of opium for a very low price. (were talking pocket change to an american)
now they the taliban is out of power there is no one to violently opress opium and hashish dealers. tho america has now annexed afganistan with a pseudo-self governing faction.
so yes, its illigal, but the americans cant find the most recognizable figure in all afghanistan (supposedly)
so how are they going to really control something as profitable as abundant masses of narcotics?

i found some white poppies growing in halifax a few weeks ago so a friend of mine and i harvested a nice ball of sticky crusty brown latex after a few days of cutting and i definately approve. a little goes a long way.
but uh, yah, opium is addictive so im not doing it again for a while.

Uh... That was a dumb question, seeing how the internet is banned in afganistan(because of religion). No one from Afganistan here would see the info anyway 
I was thinking about moving this thread somewhere because its all off topic and stuff, but I figured, eh, what the hell, its nice to have an off topic thread in hunting every once in a while. I remember a while back there was like a 4 or 5 page long debate about the morality of hunting.
Anyway, time for me to go get mah hair cut...

For your information the Afghans have Syrian Rue which contains harmala, an ingredient in Ayahuasca, Caapi and yage.
They alo had ephedra, hashish and ganja and opiates. Amanita muscaria and hwo knows what else. So I am sure they could get into their souls and spirits.

There are many different way of "getting in touch with divine will", besides eating shrooms. Psychoactive substances are not the only way to reaching higher levels of spiritual conciousness. Hashish has been extremely popular for ages in Afghanistan and other parts of the middle eat. I personally find Cannabis to be more spirtual than many other substances I have tried (including shrooms).

In the 70s afghanistan was a very open place and very hippiefied 
As well as there own home grown produce lsd was taken in and distributed as well as many other synthetic drugs.My afghan friend tells me he hadnt tryed mushrooms till he got to england but that doesnt mean there are none there.
And there is still 2 way traffic between england and afghanistan so who knows
Also with the amount of bull shit america has taken to afghanistan lately who knows what spores it all contained
