Cats and Shrooms: An experiment Part II
    #2486431 -

Wow - this topic was far more sensitive than I thought it would be.

Cats and shrooms

I only said I was considering it for crying out loud. For those concerned, the cat/shroom experiment is not going to happen. Not that it's any excuse, but my only defense is that I let my curiosity get in the way of clearly thinking it through (that plus I was still kind buzzed from the weekend).

Thanks to those of you that were polite and reasonable in explaining why you felt it was wrong for me to dose the cat - you're the ones that convinced me not to do it. Others of you weren't quite as nice - I think you guys need to chill out. This is the pub, isn't it?

Who are you adressing it to. I tried to stop the discussion before it got out of hand, but in anycase there are more than one opinion, that'll just be that, and thats the way its going to be, doesnt need to be made a fight out of. Oh and by the way, I'm stoned out of my ass!

You were cool about it - or at least I don't recall you threatening to kick my ass like one of those guys did. I just threw the original idea out there as a 'what if' - I was honestly unsure if cats (or anything other than a primate) has a brain advanced enough to trip. It sounds like from some of the responses that they do indeed. In any case, I'd not have offered the issue up for discussion if I thought for a moment that it would result in that level of hostility.

Peace -

J

!!

Well I'd just say this, I wouldn't reccomend the shrooms, just cause its hard to get the dose right and I'd be worried about giving the kitty too much, and if the experiment goes wrong and the cat doesn't like it then they're stuck in hell for hours.  I don't know, maybe you have some thorazine on hand to bring it back if it freaks out?

Wanna have some fun with your cat?  Does your cat like getting in boxes like mine does?  Get out a box, close him/her in there and clam bake it.  I know the concept of getting a pet high is nothing new to these boards, but I just love posting it as an alternative to trippin them.  Its just a *little bit* less inhumane.

dude, if I could give you 5 shrooms again i would.

I think its incredibly lame that all those people gave you 1 shroom just for thinking out loud about something most people have thought about.

fucking judgemental ass hippies. get a life!

My general view is that my cat is probably in that state already 24/7.

Yah, don't worry about it. I think a lot of people just got carried away in a self-righteous PETA-induced fervor. It's not a good idea to experiment on kitty, unless you have a lab...then its ok...somehow..

I like to get my cat high, but using catnip. My one cat drools all over the floor when given some. It's pretty funny.

2nd hand marijuana smoke is debatable as to whether it's bad or not. Anything harder is an absolute no. I just pet them, they seem to really enjoy that.

FOR gods sake you people are eating cows, chickns, pigs, and tons of other crap and your worried about giving a cat mushrooms? It wont even affect them, they are in that state naturally.

Sorry if I was one of those who sounded harsh! :frown: It's just that I witnessed a former friend give his dog some acid, and the poor beast went through hell! Prior to that, he was a friendly and (I assume) happy dog, but afterwards, he acted like he was always scared and would sit in the corner and whine. And he did this long after the acid should have worn off. Ever since, I've been adamant against dosing animals - their brains and biochemistry aren't like ours, and drugs can have some pretty drastic (and sometimes fatal) effects.

Giving any kinda psychoactive drug to an animal is sick.
And anyone who does so deserves to be locked up for harming an animal.

How would you like to s have someone give your little sister or brother an experimental drug. IT has happened and people have gone to jail for doing it.

And if you arwe not in school studying these compounds than youi have no legitimate reason in your brain for giving a drug to an animal for any reason whatsoever.

Its an animal. animals are used to test drugs everyday, get over it. Maybe its because he used 'cat' and your all cat lovers, would it be better to do this experiment with a rat? I personally dont care, just dont dose MY cat.

ps... i hate PETA

How are animals used to test drugs?

Large numbers of animals are experimented on, both to discover effective drugs and to test any that may be useful. Currently drugs, by law, still have to be tested on animals before they can go on to clinical trials.
