Points of Universal Agreement

I got to thinking today, are there any ideals on which all peoples agree, regardless of religion, culture, nationality, etc?

One might be moderation/the middle way.  Even hedonists seem to employ moderation to the extent that they are concerned about their health and well being.  There are a few cultures whose strictness doesn't seem to allow for much moderation, but could it be that they simply define it somewhat differently?

Another one might be the golden rule: do unto others as you would have done unto yourself.  It seems pretty much everyone adheres to this rule, the only differences being in how they feel they should be treated in such a situation.

Are these fair assessments?  Are there other universal ideals?

You might want to check out Aldous Huxley's book The Perennial Philosophy.  He touches on a lot of the general recurring themes that can be found in many religious/spiritual worldviews throughout history.

Archetypes are fascinating. Finding the one that you most resemble can be a fun game to play while tripping.

There is always a strong theme of archetypes whenever I shroom.  It is very bizarre to perceive my friends (and myself) as traditional archetypes.

Many moon ago in my high school days, we used to get into past archetype character, and record ourselves debating. I highly recommend it, lots-0-fun will be had, and new ideas will emerge.

Clearly not an ideal shared by all.  Just look at Satanists: do unto others before they do unto you.

Or the better Golden rule: he who has the gold, makes the rules.
