The neurotransmitter model of the brain is based on studies conducted on a dead frog. How a dead frog relates to a living human in this context is beyond me, so I am slightly skeptical of the whole serotonin being linked to depression and other such neuroscience claims.

A dead frog? Where on earth did you get that idea?

Hadn't you heard?  The human brain is the seat of the soul, and not to be tampered with.  It is God's domain, and thus we must satisfy our morbid curiosity by dissecting frogs.  Sheesh, I would think that a neuroscientist would be aware of this.

Actually, it was the position of the Catholic Church for centuries.  Doctors-in-training were allowed to dissect every other part of the human body, but were forbidden from opening the skull.

Any particular reason, or was the Catholic Church aware that some of its power might be usurped if we started developing neuroscience?

Yes, The Church has long been against 'getting skull'.

As I said, they believed that the brain was the seat of the soul & therefore "no man's land."  The usual religious lunacy.

No, Catholics are really that crazy. I will always despair of mankind's sanity when we continue to follow blindly these anti life religions.

Actually it's human folly so it would have to be a very big atomic bomb.

But most likely I will go fishing instead.

Well, I was, but I wasn't making it up.  The sarcasm was because we have had access to the human brain for centuries.  No one is basing their understanding of the human brain on the functions of a frog's brain anymore.

Science operates on ability and opportunity.

I've never seen this mentioned in the scientific method. Any sources to back this statement? I don't doubt that it's correct, I've just never come across it before.

I'm not referring to the scientific method, I am describing the conditions which need to exist in order for science to operate.  "Ability" could also be called "chemical properties" or "kinetic potential" or "genetic makeup" or similar terms which are specific to the aspect of the natural world being described.

"Opportunity" means that a particular set of circumstances must exist in order for these abilities/properties/potentials to be expressed.

I'm not quoting anyone, so I don't have sources for this summation of the basis of science.

God realized he was alone.  He thus created the illusion of separateness, which beget the essence of reproduction.  God will never be lonely again, that is, if we blow everything up, all that will be left is one giant heap of garbage.

It's about the new combination of two sets of genes into a new one (or a recombination in self reproducing lifeforms). This process in the majority works to give better survival abilities of a species in a changing environment, by enabling the species to fundamentally (be) change(d) itself by selection and adaptation -> evolution.

Life, whatever it is or however you define it, favors change. Without replication or reproduction of some kind, there is little opportunity for significant change.
