Fat Children

I've been noticing a lot more obese children these days, I'm talking 5-10 year olds.  I never used to see this kind of epidemic when I Was growing up.  What the fuck are you doing to your kids people?

TV and Video games play a big role here too.........back in the day when these werent as popular kids went outside to play and that would get them some exercise, now all they want to do is sit in front of the TV and eat :sad:

true, but once again it boils down to lazy parenting.  most people would rather let a kid be raised by tv and games instead of taking them out to do things.


when i have kids, there will be a time limit to tv and game time, and only after homework and chores are done, and they will have to have a certain amount of outside play time before they can get on.  im thinking a maximum of 1 hour of tv per day, 1 hour of games, and when theyre old enough, 1 hour of internet.  thats still too much IMO.  it might be less than that.  maybe two hours total per day and they can decide which they want to do.

because its fucked up to set your kids on the same lazy, unhealthy path that you chose in life.  if you let your kids get fat, it is FAR worse than you getting fat.

I think it's also due to the fact that people tend to be poorer these days, and a lot of times, the less healthy choice is cheaper and feeds more people.

But lazy parenting is a huuuuuuuge problem in US culture, not just because it produces fat children. 

Lazy parents = selfish parents.

Selfish parents = kids with low self-esteem and a need for instant gratification as well as a deep-seated bitterness

These kids get older and angrier and too many of them never learn to love/respect themselves or other people..

Then they produce more kids with selfish parents.. It's a sad, sad, ever-expanding cycle.

I just dont think it's any of our business to tell people how to raise their kids.
We teach healthy eating in schools and have phys ed.

If the kids learn that it then becomes their personal choice.
