Yeah we're made in the image of God so I could see why people think themselves godly. But I think it's more our pride that does that- that was our first (and ultimate) temptation in the Garden- "to be like God". Nowadays being 'like God' isn't good enough for some people's pride. They want to actually be God.

No in our ignorance you thought you were equal to Him (our Creator), yet He forgave us by dying on the cross in order to pay the price for our transgressions (that's some loving king huh?).

Wow you went from "our ignorance" to simply coming right out with it and saying "you thought you were equal to Him".

I think that you are confusing your own experience with something you must have read or been told. No human being with sanity could believe themselves to be God. That is confusing a temporal ego with Eternal Being - quite a confusion.

On the other hand, human beings might be thought of as 'waves' on the 'Ocean' which is God. We forget that our individual 'wave forms,' our being, is composed of the One Ocean and all we experience is our individuality not our Unity. It is the Unity, the Whole, which is Holy. 'W' as egos, Realize Holiness (Wholeness) to the extent that we Realize that the wave and the Ocean, the individual and the Unity, are in Union.

"I and the Father are One." This is not about the man Jesus, this is about the metaphysical Truth as expounded by Jesus. He was speaking about every human being in that terse statement, otherwise Jesus is irrelevant. So we have theological obscurities like being in the 'mystical body of Christ' and whatnot in order to separate Jesus by specie from the rest of human kind. THAT is the myth that is separate. A myth can never be a flesh and blood person, so mainstream Christians, not understanding why, psychologically, they must keep Jesus separate by theological devices, just choose to believe that myth has become history in the Incarnation. That is true insofar as we are ALL Incarnations - waves composed of the Ocean. Of course this is clearly heresy ('wrong choice') according to mainstream Christianity. Instead, Christianity has made the immense blunder of historicizing instead of psychologizing the myth. It is projected outward in the world of temporal events instead of incorporated (like the Eucharist) into one's inner world of the psyche where it can actually effect transformations of a human being. No, let's argue, go to war, torture and commit genocide over differences instead. :jesus: :onfire: :shitstorm: :spank: :nono:

A lot of what you said makes sense. I do believe that once we get to a certain point we will be one with God as Jesus and Him are one. I don't think we are one with God now, seeing we do things God would not do ("evil" things). That's why I said that in mankind's arrogance some of us think that we are part of God now (in general, not specifically anyone)- which is seen by people putting too much trust in themselves all the time. I didn't use "we" before because I wanted to make clear that I don't think so arrogantly of myself.

I really like a lot of what you wrote. I disagree with your reasoning that Christ is a myth however. (sorry if I'm misunderstanding but I think that's what you were saying right). Just because we are waves on the ocean that is God as you put it, doesn't mean that we are all of God. Gos has so much more to Him than just us. Christ is part of God that came to Earth to show us the way back to the Father. And although Christ in my belief is fully God, I'm not saying that Christ is all of God either. God is more than just Jesus' soul too.

What I'm trying to get now is- why do think what you believe (which I agree with for the most part) is opposed to the idea of Christ's death and Resurrection?
