Ultimate Truth
    #8645139 -

It seems we get lost when speaking of The Truth.

I think there are truths. A single truth is one of many truths that speaks to a very specific matter...that is agreed upon.

What is our obsession to boil everything down and to unify all theories?

We attempt to boil everything down to one unified overall theory because everything interrelates.

I don't much believe in free will, and to me the determinist view covers this. Since we all come from the same point, are made of the same components, adhere to the same laws of the universe, everything must come down to one solid "truth".

Everything experiences this truth everyday, and in the exact same way. (As it applies to the fact that light exists, not in the way that we see things differently than bugs because we see different spectrums of light)

My advice is to find those things that give pleasure and do them often without too much attachment and relax and wait for the show to end.

I like free markets and all. Truly I do, at least in general, but there needs to be some kind of oversight in recognition of sustainability. Life works the same way, on a bunch of sustainable systems. Why not honor what made us what we are and take some lessons? Nature FTW!

it would take many small truths to interelate us seeing light to us having no free will.

a single truth to me...would be a sentence or paragraph long. i don't think this can be done.

No, but why are you defining something that is as of yet, is indefinable?

A sinlge truth could have to be every theory/law/observation orchestrated into an unfolding show of knowledge of how everything just is.

Which seems like it could be quite long and complex, if understanding that great can even exist.

Any conceptual truth is relative and every relative truth contains it's opposite.

Absolute Truth is self-luminous, aware and conscious. It is Being itself which is everywhere.

Being the nature of everything, there is nothing outside of Truth.

Ultimate Truth doesn't explain anything, it is everything.

The only thing that realizes the Truth is the Truth itself.

Yeah I agree with you.  If there is an absolute truth, it can't be contained within a thought, or a bunch of symbolic language, because these things are not all-inclusive.

I think we do it because of our basic insecurity about dying/not being. We need all the answers so we can control the outcome.

I would say because when we look at life & the universe everything is apparently separate, but the times when we feel good about ourselves seems to be when we have become one with something else, whether it be unity with a meal or a spouse or a musical instrument, or the "ultimate" one with all existence.

It comes down to happyness imo, we feel happy when we feel a part of something not when we're alone & feel abandoned.

Its just in our nature to want a constant state of fulfillment, because when we feel fullfilled we feel happy & alive. So then we seek how to get this ever lasting fullfillment or truth.

There's nothing there, our need to simplify everything down is due to an intuition that suggests this - I say it again.

There's no doer there's only the doING. That's why there's no problem. How can there be complaints when all that's happening is what's happening? It takes an irrational muscle tension, a state of insanity, to reject existence.

Wherever the hero may wander, whatever he may do, he is ever in the presence of his own essence — for he has the perfected eye to see. There is no separateness. Thus, just as the way of social participation may lead in the end to a realization of the All in the individual, so that of exile brings the hero to the Self in all.

I think that humanity's attempt to sum up all truth into one Truth comes from the desire of humanity to give itself some purpose. With the fall of Christianity in the west, a void was left. And we try to fill this void with theories of everything in order to give our lives some type of meaning. Well, that's what i think.

I believe things are exactly how they are and will be exactly how they will be and were exactly how they were.

No need to explain anymore than that.

Is that not true?

i don't see how that explains anything though.

yes things are as they are. that isn't much of an explanation. it sounds more like a redundant statement to me.

I think it's all about trying out the different perspectives of truth. If you can boil down everything to a single point and understand it, that's great, but most people can't do that, so we have to have stepping stones there, to try and make connection from our lives to the importance of the truth.

i think by explaining it anymore than i did, hey maybe even i explained it too much, its going to become false in some way.

Ultimate truth is that there is not ultimate truth. Life is completely pointless. Whatever specific meaning one derives or establishes life ultimately proves false. That's the truth. Life cares little for human understanding.

I like your thought though, perhaps I even agree.
