You mean the record company would make a profit. Artists very rarely make more than pennies on each album sold. Most of artists profits come from touring.

Artists like Metallica with 50 trillion dollars who sue people for downloading their music should be stolen from, and people like Saul Williams who offers his album on the internet for free and only asks for a $5 suggested donation, are awesome.

If you really want to support an artist.. pay to see them play live and buy a T-shirt.

do you mean that after it is all over, then we'll have better hospitals?

i just read that a long recession = a depression and during a depression, people with money can buy things for cheap and then later sell them for a lot. should i just keep on saving up my money until we hit a depression and then buy a bunch of silver/gold? im trying to take advantage of the situation and maybe make some college money.

Yeah the record companies are pretty much the artist's pimp. They get a huge cut and make a killing with advertisement, promotion, distribution, etc.

The artist in reality gets a smaller percentage of the total profit than you might think. They still get hella rich though as a result of merchandise (non-music), touring, appearances, and so on :sun:

If the economy collapses your money will be worthless. It's just paper. Good for starting a fire maybe. In the 'real world' money doesn't serve any real purpose.. skills however.. do. And Tools. And practical knowledge. Likewise, silver and gold is just shiny metals. Gold may have some other practical purposes but that's beside the point.
The barter system would naturally be the first thing to replace the economy so you would want things people want/need, like food and water, and the knowledge and means to grow/obtain it. Shelter is the next most important thing people need. And tools to do all these things.

And yes I mean that after it is all over... we will have much more advanced medical care. And technology for that matter. Collapse of the economy and modern society doesn't mean we'll go into the dark ages forever. It just means the bullshit and boundaries will collapse. Making the mistakes of the past crystal clear and leaving only room for evolution.

First thing you should do is not take serious advice from a forum of strangers.

If you really believe that global collapse will happen in your lifetime (I dont), then you should stock up on ammo and guns, growing supplies, and survival skills.
