Love usually starts by 2 people having sex, and then realizing 3 years later that they aren't right for each other. Be careful out there, I was stuck in a bad relationship for a long time and didn't even realize it. I think TRUE and lasting love can start from a good friendship, or even better- it just happens.

Of course love starts with mutual friendship. You have to really know someone to love them. If not, then it's definately infatuation. Trust me, I've been confused by the difference in them many times.

for me it was almost instant. met the guy of my dreams (or so i thought at the time) and within an hour i was practically living with him. at the time it felt like love at first sight, but after thinking about it over and over again i tend to believe what a few others have already mentioned, you cannot truly love someone you do not know, so i guess it was infactuation to begin with.

i think love can be best described as "mutual infatuation". I've had more ex's than I would want, but its a learning process. Rarely does anybody get it right the first time so don't feel so bad. I've felt that "infatuation" and it does make you feel like your going crazy, your not, just blind. If you didn't blow all your chances with her, and you are still talking to her, you still may be able to turn it around. Patience is going to be key. If you did blow it, forget about her, and move on (or you'll wind up with a restraining order on Yo ass). Knowing what you want, in life, in another person (as a friend, girlfriend) and how you want to feel, is what defines what you want in a relationship; and finding someone who knows they want the same (in life, in another person, and how you want to feel) as you, may be a good road to follow. Nothing is ever an exact science, its all about trial and error. I hope this helps

Ah, love! What a wonderful and illusive mystery. Some people believe that destiny guides us to love "the one" person that mystically hovers out there on this planent hoping that one day we will find them or they will find us. Love can be complex and perplexing or it can be extremely simple. Don't worry my friend, there will be other girls, maybe one, maybe 100. Did you love this girl? There may be no doubt in your mind that you did and that you still do. Although, when you love one and that one does not love you in return and you linger on it, then yes, it is infatuation. And if you do truely love this girl, then the only choice you have is to let her go and just hope that one day she will return.

On the question of love and how it begins, I believe you're seeking an answer that really can't be answered. There are countless way love begins. For me, I was friends with my fiance for 7 years before we fell in love. I think we always loved each other though, just took 7 years to figure things out. Anyhow, if it's meant to be, you'll be back with her soon enough, if not, expect a long and emotionally heartbreaking road ahead. But don't be discouraged, you will emerge much wiser and stronger then before.

i was friends with this girl for about 2 years, we met at school, we hung out all the time, we always had a thing for each other but never acted upon it, i always knew their was something special about her and one day she called me about a year back now and told me her feelings up front, i too shared these feelings, they were always strong from the first time we met, and now to this day this girl of my dreams is my loving girl friend... i know i love her, if you loved her, you would know, you don't really question it, its just like you KNOW, i love this girl with everything i have we were best friends now shes still my best friend but my girlfriend...

I think the fact of the matter is that most people are confused PERIOD.

Love DOES NOT exist BEFORE you meet someone!! Love is what is created between two people!

You cannot love someone you don't know!! It takes time!! If it's an hour, or three days or even 2 weeks - it is still just an attraction, an infatuation, and a desire. Love doesn't just 'happen'.

One day, if you're lucky, you'll meet someone who is greatly attracted to you (the way you look and smell, the way you act, who you are), and you are greatly attracted to them. You talk and then go out on dates together. Several, several months later, you know more about them than you did when you first met them.

And if everything has gone okay, and this person is just everything you need and want in a person, with a little twist of emotions that can't be explained, *BAM* THAT'S LOVE.

Trust me... you'll either jump for joy when you realize it, or want to shoot yourself like me.

love only truly makes sense to the two people experiencing it together. it is different for every couple, kinda like how no two people have the same trip but it is amazing for each of them anyway.
i completely agree that you have to know the person inside and out to be in love otherwise it is just being "in love" with an illusion or just who you think that they are.
love is a very special like a touching of souls.

I would say love is the most powerful and broad human emotion. It makes me feel elated, sad, complete and alone all at the same time.. to me love was/is a heaviness of fulfiillment that can't be explained or analyzed. There is nothing like love, nothing as beautifully wicked... nothing as blinding or as liberating.
