Is Reason Enough To Mitigate Primal Instinct
    #7609772 - 11/08/07 01:43 AM (16 years, 2 months ago)

I am not particularly handsome and neither do I have good conformation, therefore i am not a good specimen for breeding.

Wisdom is not a genetically transferable trait.

Therefore there is no reason to copulate other than to satisfy a primal instinct.

Wisdom (intelligence) may not be genetically transferable, but parents are the decision makers concerning their children's upbringing and education, so I think it would be fair to say that the (majority of) children of intelligent people will likely realize a greater potential of their minds than the children of mouth breathers.

Anyways, you sound like you're approaching sex as if it were a science experiment. There are plenty of reasons to have sex beside 'breeding' and 'satisfying a primal extinct', namely - sharing a blissful experience with someone you love, strengthening a meaningful relationship, etc.

Please elaborate, though. It's an interesting topic.

In elaboration i may say that I hope the human race transcends the machinations of animals and scumbags.

So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

wisdom maybe not, but intelligence is, and that's a good basis for gaining wisdom..

I don't believe intelligence is transferred genetically. I think its all in the parenting.

But back on topic....there is a difference between fucking another human being and making love. Today we do a lot of fucking. Even a majority of relationships are based on sex and nothing more.
