instinct to "prepare" before peak
    #1190303 - 01/04/03 02:33 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

Does anyone else feel a strong instinct that they must prepare themselves for a mushrooms peak?

There is a strong instinct to prepare, but im never sure how, i usualy go for the lotus position for some reason, i think the closer to ego death you are the more youd know, i spose you can go for the ego death on a sofa wearing clothes, but i think its all symbolic, when i had a failr heavy trip a while back i felt like i had to be naked and in lotus position, ready for my soul to move to the next place and my body to die and be left behind. that next place hey....feels so much more home than my house

My trips are more like ridiculous adventures. I find myself in the middle of an obnoxious story about super monkeys who's lonely civilization forms a thin layer on the surface of a huge rock flying through outer space. To prepare for these "ridiculous adventures" I fill a backpack with warm clothes, water, a flashlight, a lighter and other life-support tools. As I come up I'm usually lying down flat on the ground or sitting in the fetal position among the undergrowth like a feral ape. Those are my mushroom instincts.

I know what you mean. I think most of us tries to prepare ourselves in some way or another.

For me this usually consists of running down the middle of a highway at the oncoming cars. When they flash past me I get a huge rush and it makes me feel I am running 80 mph!

*Do not try this at home. The cars will make a real mess of the living room.

Well, I usually look at the mushrooms, take a deep breath, then chow down.....before hitting peak, i sit in a form of the lotus positions and start breathing. Tho i don't usually feel the erg to get naked. I still have yet to meditate while on Mushrooms tho i will try next trip. I have been out of my meditation swing lately. Tho i am on the path back on it.

To prepare for a peak I lay back and close my eyes....

to prepare for the TRIP I just make sure I don't have any.. "chores" i still need to take care of.

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

I like to be near some place where I can take a walk and revel in the beauty of existence, the beach, the woods, the desert...

I prepare by getting up and stretching.

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

Curled up in the fetal position with a smoke in hand.
Baggy hoody...
Comfy pants.
Kitty by my side...
Curled up in the same position.
Not smoking...
Naked.
Silly cats...

When your in an ego-less state, clothes don't make much sense.

Except when it's winter and you are out in the woods at night with snow all over the place, then they make lots of sense.
